old broken plastic brown sewing box, the latch was broken and if you lifted it up by the handle..."stuff" could fly everywhere. I have had that sewing box about 50 years. I think I got it for Christmas one year.
In with the new...also a Christmas gift from Far Guy.
All organized...I hardly ever use it but I have it just incase I need to hand sew something. The crayon and colored pencil boxes from Michaels sure come in handy! AND the best part is nothing will go flying everywhere.
Who ever heard of a sewing box without a scissors?? I do have razor blades and a seam ripper! I am sure I can find a scissors someplace for it.
We had a quiet day Friday, most everything is put away from the move. I did a bunch of laundry and cleaned the bathroom. We had salmon/pork burger no bun, baked potato, salad and raspberries for supper.
Far Guy is maybe(knocks on wood)...maybe a tiny bit better.
Far Side
Nice! I use a tackle box for my sewing stuff. But I don't have the rest of my stuff in a nice kit like yours.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy being at home!
I love your new sewing kit. I found myself a new one at an antique store years and years ago. It doesn't have much space in the bottom due to another tray inside, but it hold what I need to hand sew anything. Good to hear Far Guy is doing a bit better.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Home and it sounds like you are settled in. Thank you for bringing the cold weather back with you :) Soon soon it has to warm up!
ReplyDeleteLots of good things, but especially FG improving!
ReplyDeleteYum...Your super sounds so good. Glad you got a new sewing basket and it sure looks greatly organized. My granddaughters are already have the discussion of who will get my sewing box when I am no longe here...lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice new sewing container. The kids left yesterday so I'm doing laundry too. I hope Far Guy continues to feel better! There's no place like home.
ReplyDeleteKeeping FG in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteNice to have a new kit that doesn't send stuff flying!
This is a really good report especially about your husband which we will claim and also pray his healing continues! My first sewing container was a sectioned Tupperware. It wasn't as deep as a lunchbox but close to that size. The bottom was red and inside, it had a small sectioned tray to lift out. I have no idea of the purpose the company promoted. But it was perfect for the necessary repair items needed.
ReplyDeleteAny tiny step toward better is good news!
ReplyDeleteI had that same tomato pin holder until it finally started falling apart. Really nice to have a secure new sewing kit. Glad FarGuy is doing a little better at home now and you two are getting settled in. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are settling in & Far Guy is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThe meal sounds delicious. Love the new sewing box. When Helen came she hemmed two pair of jeans for me. She needed a different foot. I couldn’t find the feet. Don’t know where I put them. You are so organized.
ReplyDeleteI think 50 years is a good run!
ReplyDeleteMarried to a quilter as I am, I can imagine what an emotional parting that was for you!
ReplyDeleteMy sewing box is much messier that yours, and I do have to support the bottom when I pick it up be the handle, or, yes, stuff could go flying everywhere. Another sign of age?
ReplyDeleteI hope those FG tiny bits better continue to add up.
I have an old wooden sewing box that the handle is broken but I keep using it. lol I like your new one.
ReplyDeleteNice looking sewing kit. But no scissors? I know you must have them - needed for cutting the ends of yarn in your crochet projects.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for continued improvement for Far Guy!
LD...My wife has all her sewing repair things in a wicker backet shaped like a bunny. I bought it for her before we were even married. We are always running for it to get needles for me to work with my paper cranes.
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories of my mom's sewing box which also had a tomato for sticking pins into.
ReplyDeleteNice sewing box. I hope the salmon/pork burgers mean you each had something different, I've never heard of mixing the two together so if you actually do that, could you explain what it tastes like?
ReplyDeleteMy husband had salmon and I had a pork burger, I only have salmon once in a great while:)
DeleteI like your new sewing "box". I have an old plastic one that I have to lift very gently or, like your old one, things fly everywhere. Since I don't sew and gave my sewing machine to Eldest Daughter I'm not sure just why I even keep the old box.
ReplyDeleteThat new sewing box looks very sweet! I have two sewing boxes because they are both too small to hold everything. And I have a tote of thread from our families 4H sewing days when we had to match colors to outfits.
ReplyDeletesounds like you're getting organized. Glad you got a beautiful new sewing box and praying far guy is getting better!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice sewing "box!" I have so much thread that I have all of it in a type of plastic box (like the size of a shoebox) that has two inserts that hold even more thread and are also both filled. Must be all the quilting and small projects I do that causes me to have so much thread. Ha! When my son asks to borrow a certain thread color, he knows mom probably has it. I have the usual sewing box (held closed by a vercro "latch") that one of my daughters-in-law gave me Christmas 2001. Before that, I had my mama's wooden sewing box that was made by her father in 1939 (I don't have it anymore ... suffice it to say due to my ex.). I use little plastic containers I found in the fishing section of Walmart many years ago that I use for holding safety pins, quilting pins, etc. And a couple very old Tupperware containers that hold some buttons, sewing machine feet and such, etc. We must have our sewing implements and containers! 😉 😁
