We are deep in the brown season, usually we have some white by now...I am certain it will come sooner or later.
We had a busy week and the time change caught up with me yesterday and I slept the afternoon away.
Deer hunting starts today, hope everyone has a safe and productive hunt here in Minnesota!
Far Side
Our gun season starts next weekend so I'll be out this weekend enjoying the woods before I am banned from them by hubby. :)
ReplyDeleteWe'll pull out the Lego Medieval Village then and start work on our winter project.
I'm not against the hunting at all, I'm against not being able to walk safely on my land with some rather reckless hunters that visit the land to the east of us.
I'm loving the cooler weather, for sure!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Donna
I would like to have snow now. This drab month can use a little brightening up.
ReplyDeleteWe're in the brown season too - with a few trees still bravely hanging onto its leaves. Brown and very dry, although we got just enough rain early this morning to make the ground wet. I'm hoping we get snow soon so my allergies will calm down.
ReplyDeleteWe still have some green grass here, which is really odd for this time of the year. There is a little bit of precipitation in the forecast for this week, but nothing that will last.
ReplyDeleteMy brother sent a photo today, his son (24) got an elk this morning. A big, healthy one so they should get lots of meat from it.
Our snow melted, and we still have maple bugs on the windows that survived the -10C we had for a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteOur snowball bush has a couple of blossoms on it which is ridiculous for November!
ReplyDeleteIt was almost 80 degrees here in Northern Ohio this week. There is a lot of debate as to if we have snow this year. Meanwhile my husband has serviced and fueled the snow blower just in case.
ReplyDeleteWe still have some green grass! White will come soon enough, I guess.
ReplyDeleteFrom my posts you can see that we are still in autumn color and the grass is green. Mybe for you, a little snow would be nice.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to have a nice long afternoon nap...good for you. We have had so much rain lately that we are now out of the burn ban.
ReplyDeleteHunting isn't something I know anything about
ReplyDeleteGD Kate's partner went deer hunting last month but it was with a Bow and arrow ( he didn't get anything; but he had fun anyway). GM
ReplyDeleteYes, deer hunting season. oi
ReplyDeleteI will wear my orange when I walk each morning. So my mousey colored hair won’t be shot at.
ReplyDeleteFall is definitely here and cold weather right around the corner. I love your old windmill blades, I can't help thinking they would look gorgeous on the side of my barn.
ReplyDeleteHere, it's really the autumn season in the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteFrom October 5th to December 31st, hunting is allowed on five species. This period is considered the hunting season, although the season for some wildlife species is longer. If you want to hunt, you first have to complete a course. And it's quite tough. Hunting here is not considered a sport, but wildlife management. You need a lot of knowledge for this, such as: more than 185 plant and animal species; the necessary laws and regulations; how to shoot with a rifle and shotgun; forestry & agriculture; ecology.
Thanks for you blogpost, and I love the photo.
Hunting is going on here too. I haven't heard of anyone who has gotten anything yet though. I'm about to send Dennis out turkey hunting (lol). I'm having a tough time finding my usual 23-25 lb. turkey for Thanksgiving. We'll meet at Brad & Mandy's and I'll cook most of the meal and take it over there. They have a lot more room and we'll probably have 20 or more people.
ReplyDeleteI slept 9 hours last night, the most in weeks, and took a 2 hour nap which I never do. I'll have to email you.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
I hope your hunting season is safe and a success.
