1953 or 1954 Deer Hunting

I have several old photographs of me and a deer.

Who: My Dad and me

Where: the Farm in Carsonville Township

Why:  Hunting photo

When:  1953 or 1954  I am either two or three years old.

I believe that is my Uncle Adolf on the left and my Dad on the right.  Note my fancy headscarf...most likely a dish towel.  The windows in the center of the photo were living room windows, the outside wood chute is the little toot on the left and the door to the house is on the far right.
Here we have another person...Uncle George or maybe my Aunt Marie's husband Uncle Kenneth on the far left.
I wish I knew exactly who was who...but in the end it is my Dad and his brothers or his brother in law  at the end of a good hunt.

  5. I have shots that my dad took of my cousins deer hunting. He enjoyed being around my aunts and uncles. My dad didn't hunt as he didn't have much woodsman knowledge being a city guy. But he enjoyed the hunt stories from others

I love old photos like these.

  6. Good memories for you. I didn't have a hunting family, no one hunted. I've been told you either really like venison or you really don't.

  8. I shot and missed a whitetail years ago...then and there, I quit hunting. The buck turned and looked at me...

  10. Love these old photos. I have one of my father as a teenager with a whole line up of rabbits he had shot (they were a major pest on the farm).

  11. We have some old photos of me hugging and petting a dead deer when I was about two years old. Very similar black and white memories in Minnesota. :)

  15. I love looking thru old photos. I recently found a bag that came from my mom and dad's house. Three of our grands were here for the weekend and they had a ball looking at old photos of their dad, grampa and me and their aunt and uncle.

  16. I think deer are so beautiful but I know that hunting has to happen or they overrun everything. No one in my family hunted but some guys from church in Spokane took Alex deer hunting when he was about 12. He went through all of the hunting courses and got his license and deer tag. It was really a LOT of work for a 12 year old. He decided he really didn't like it much. Ha!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  18. I don't think my dad or any of my brothers went deer hunting and I don't think venison ever showed up on our table. I like your old pictures though. GM
