Usually I put up some Fall decorations on the wreath outside the door. This year I saw some little battery operated lights that I could not resist. They have a timer and are on for six hours and off for eighteen.
We can all use a bit of light in the dark evenings!
Yesterday we got a few more Fall projects crossed off our list. The No Trespassing signs are up and we took care of a few more ant hills. We blew some leaves in the yard with the leaf blower and trimmed the grass around the Lilacs that Far Guy planted a long time ago. They we just little sticks that we got from neighbor Jolynn and a couple of them are really taking off.
I spent part of the morning with my other baby brother checking on some things for my parents.

Busy as usual. I got my flu shot yesterday and it hurt a LOT. My arm is better this morning, but I thought of you and how you always have a strong reaction to these things. :-)
Seems like it takes 7 years for a Lilac to bloom. I like the wreath. I’m not artsy but I could do that. Oh, but I could never set that timer, Connie. No telling when it’d come on and go off. I’m going to mention your ant killer on my blog. Then when I want it I can search the blog and find the recipe. I recall my Mother used boric acid for killing roaches. We would save paper sacks from the grocery and she said that would get them started. Boric acid took good care of them. I’m going to try 3/4 acid to 1/4 sugar. I may try it in my house too. I don’t have ants now but there’s been times they invade. Remember to take care of yourself so you’ll have strength to take care of those around you.
I should mow the lawn but it's so dry and allergies have been bad, so....I haven't done it. You have been productive.
Your blog was the first time I had heard of the powdered sugar and borax for ant hills. I googled it and was impressed to read about it. Thanks for the tip! We will see if it is as effective on "southern" ants next summer! I like chemical-free solutions.

The wreath and the lights are cute. I've never seen fairy lights with a timer, but that is an awesome idea.

Very cute little fairy lights on your wreath! I have some solar ones in the flower pot with the rain gauge just outside my kitchen windows. No plants remain in the flower pot, but the lights twinkle up and down the stake with the rain gauge. I'm probably have to remove the glass insert for that gauge very soon, but will leave the stake in there to hold up the lights.
We are done mowing. I did that two weeks ago and it has remained so dry that the yard is getting brown. The leaves will fall down and I will watch them blow around and rake in the spring.

I have those lights and use them among my manger scene each year. It is nice how they turn themselves off and on. My neighbor declares our good days are gone but I think we have a lot of time yet for fall work outside. Our leaves haven't fallen yet. I am glad you keep getting your outside work done. If feels good to take them off the list.
Our very bright afternoon is winding down here on Whidbey Island as I catch up with blogging and listen to the Mariners playing baseball down in Huston. Strike out! One out to go for a Mariner's victory in game one.
I like the simplicity of the lights on the wreath. The timer is a bonus.
Fall jobs seem to never end except when winter arrives.

The little lights are quite effective as a decoration. Like that they are on a timer!
I love fairy lights--especially colored ones, but I like the plain white ones, too. Feels like winter is coming. I pulled out all the half dead plants out of my planter boxes today. :(
