I wanted to get both squares 19 and 20 done on my Mosaic Patchwork Afghan before I had surgery on my hand.

I only made it to row 18 out of 55. Oh well it was a goal and I came close to achievement.
My hand is still very sore. I can crochet but it is not real comfortable. It is surprising how much I need that left thumb. Jen washed my hair for me because I am not supposed to get my hand wet. Let me tell you putting on a bra is impossible without help...good thing Far Guy doesn't mind attending the bra wars. He cuts my food for me and clicks my seat belt into place, opens pill bottles, fills my water bottle, adjusts water in the shower and helps get me settled in bed with my arm elevated, puts lotion on my feet and puts on my socks and many other things throughout the day. Not sure what I would do without him and Jen, they are both so helpful.

I'm so happy you have such good help for recovery! I know those things are tough to try and do on your own.
I can't imagine trying to crochet with your hand!
Reading puts me to sleep also, but it is a good activity for me to relax while inside or before bed time.

That block 19 is really pretty with those lightning bolt shapes, and the next one will be as well. I'm amazed that you can crochet already even if it's not comfortable. Wow! It's good the FG and your daughter are so helpful.

Those are beautiful squares, but even more beautiful is the way Far Guy is showing his love for you with all of the acts of service. I'm so glad you have him and Jenn. My Dennis would do the same for me and has on a few occasions. When I got my pacemaker I was amazed at all of the things I couldn't do because of it. I wasn't supposed to raise my arms over my head for several weeks while the leads implanted and made scar tissue. I couldn't believe how many times you raise your arms up. To brush your hair, put on a shirt, wash hair, get food from cupboards, etc.

Far Guy is a good guy! Years ago, a friend of mine were planning a cruise when she broke her arm biking in Cuba. We went, and I was her bra fastener for the trip. It's not a job one can do with one hand.

Those blocks are great! You'll get #20 done in time. When I had hand surgery I remember how impossible a bra was to put on. There are so many things we don't realize we need both hands to do. I couldn't even open a can of soup. I'm happy that you have such loving help!
Yes! It is really difficult to go one-handed. I've had to do that a couple of times for different reasons than yours but it was very difficult living alone and taking care of critters at the time, too. You don't forget it. I went braless for a while--LOL!
I’m glad your surgery went well and that you have loving helpers to make things easier. Good idea to get this done before you went home I think. I bet it will be a challenge to take a shower for a while, too.
Tom and I have both been in need of each other's hands recently. Sure is good to have a loving partner. Wishing you a smooth recovery.

It's amazing how necessary thumbs are!!
That's funny, because I was having arm pain, and could barely do up my bra. I couldn't undo it, and hubby helped out! I gave up wearing one for a bit.
Keep healing....one of these days things will be much better!
We are both blessed with wonderful husbands! My husband had to do all that and more with my smashed arm. My goal in PT was to be able to put on (and take off) my bra. I still thank my lucky stars every night that I can finally do that myself! I still have a little problem with grabbing my seat belt from behind me. I usually can back up the seat and reach it, then move the seat forward again so I can reach the pedals. Prayers for a speedy and complete recovery!!
Hope the thumb feels better. I can only imagine the frustration over a lame thumb. I was laid up over a jammed finger for days. Funny how all of you fingers come in handy when you are doing the most mundane things. We take them for granted when they are working properly.
You were very close to finishing those two squares. Great job on being so close to your goal.
I'm glad you have them to help you. Bet you'll be glad when you can use the hand again and do those things yourself though.
All the things you take for granted. I would suggest putting on three layers of shirts and forget that other thing.
