There is really nothing much to photograph outside...old houses that is about it. The grass is brown, nothing is blooming, the streets are dirty and so is whatever snow is left. No sunshine made for a good afternoon to take some photos of old houses.
I drove around and pulled over to take some photos. This is the front side of the huge house that we pass by on the way to the Clinic. I sure would like to see inside...but I wouldn't want to clean it!
I have been sorting through a few things getting them ready for the move back to the woods in a week. Clothing and some bath items are staying here.

That is a magnificent old house, and I'm with you - wondering what it's like inside. Hopefully the owners had a whole staff to take care of it. Are you excited about moving back to the woods? I think you'll miss that puppy.
I went to NC to visit family & friends last week. Daffodils & Bradford pear were blooming. I heard frogs crocking when I was at one of the Grand's baseball games. Returned to winter in SD - grass brown, no blooms with a forecast of snow. Karen
Those houses are gorgeous - - and definitely BIG!
At one time they needed these big houses as they had larger families and then they had maids and since it may have been before cars they had horses and a guy to look after horses and a guy to look after the yard. at least this is what my daughter tells me about the large houses. When you see one for sale go and have a look at it.
Beautiful old homes. The turret on the second house is begging to be explored but I always tell Dennis the same thing. I wouldn't want to clean them.
You're heading home! How exciting. I know you've enjoyed your time with the kids but home is always wonderful. Sadie is going to miss you and wonder where you went.

Those are some beautiful houses. The town 30 minutes away where we get groceries has lots of houses like those. Dave always remarks how much he'd like to have one... until I remind how many stairs they have! He complains about our one tiny stair case!
We haven't such houses here. So I am glad with your blogpost. It is nice.
I love old homes, and this one is a beauty, I'd love to peak inside too! But you are right about the upkeep they need, and not just in keeping it clean.
It would take a lot of people to fill that house.

Those huge columns make quite the statement. Fancy older homes always make me wonder about the original owners, who built such unique homes.
The large house is very stately with its columns, and I'm sure inside is lovely. But I have to admit I like the next door better with the porch and the turret, and the color too.
I'm sure you'll be happy to be home again, but miss the company.
I love those big old houses and whenever I get a chance I tour them. I agree about the cleaning of them though.
I love those houses but I agree with you, I wouldn't want to clean them! It will be nice to get back to your home but you're going to miss your family and granddogs!

It's springtime now, with lots of sun - hopefully it will stay for a while. I took two long walks and admired nature... a hug to you.

Have you searched the history of this wonderful house? I bet there is a story there. I’m sure Sadie and your family will miss you, but I bet you are excited to be going home in a week.
I love big, old houses but feel the same as you... I wouldn't want to clean it! Especially washing all those windows!
Those big old houses had maids quarters, I'm sure. Now the cleaning and heating would be too much.

I always thought I would live in a big Victorian house with all kinds of nooks and crannies. I am so glad we stuck with our little ranch starter home all these years. So much easier to clean and maintain.

I think of the same thing: cleaning it! Our bungalow is just right.
So long ago I wanted a Victorian home with all the gables and neat porches. Now I realize that there is a lot of upkeep to them that I wouldn't be able to do. However, I still admire them!

I used to live in an old Dutch Colonial when the kids were little...maids parlor, butler's pantry and master bedroom suite....I loved that old house but I was younger then and had lots more energy!
Bet you'll be glad to be back home soon. Though you'll likely miss everyone.
