Sadie : 13 weeks

Sadie is 13 weeks old and weighs 13 pounds.  She had a visit to the Vet and got some shots...the Vet said "Goldens are usually more relaxed" duh...

Fluffy Sadie...and she tries to bite the brush during grooming.

Leggy Sadie...she has grown 4 1/4 inches since she came home.  She is taller than Phoebe the cat.   She can also hold Phoebe down.  Phoebe likes Sadie...and usually asks to play/fight.

Yes she looks sweet, and she is sweet when she is sleepy.   She met the kids next door and she has played with other dogs this week.  She was scared of the dog across the back yard...and was scared of the wind the other day so she needed company to go potty.   She wanted to run after the squirrel in the back yard.

She walks decent on a leash but sometimes bites the leash...she is a very busy puppy.  She knows "sit" and is just getting "down"...she knows "off" and "no" but often ignores those commands.  She is very smart...possibly too smart.

Her favorite toys are a stuffed duck and a plastic pop bottle.  I gave her the pop bottle because the ridges on the cap are great for her chewing and biting.  So she worked on that bottle cap and one day was next to me and made a funny sound...sure enough she got the cap off...I dug it out of her throat.   So I guess I tried to kill her but ended up saving her.

Such are the adventures with Sadie.

Love the adventures of Sadie. She is so cute. Glad you got the bottle cap out of her throat before she choked to death.

Nice shots, Sadie has really grown! Our next door neighbors have two Goldens. The older one has always been more mellow-ish, the younger one not so much. You are really enjoying daily animal interactions!

Our Labs loved chewing on plastic two liter soda bottles. I always took the cap and ring off. I watched until they chewed the top flat, then took it away. A favorite and inexpensive toy. I don't give them bottles anymore, they chew the top off too fast. I bet Sadie would love a Kong puppy wheel (in pink!). I bought one for my grand dog Remi and stuck ice cubes inside the flaps to keep her busy (or peanut butter). The wheel is the one toy that has survived all these years.

Sadie is such a sweet dog, and I guess it's better to have a smart one than the other kind. I wonder if Phoebe will keep bullying her when she's really big. Growing like a weed!

She's adorable, and a handful at the same time. Sadie is certainly bonding with you.

She's such a pretty dog. Having puppies is much like having human babies around - into everything and chewing on things they shouldn't.

That's the problem with Goldens and Labs - they are smart enough to know we aren't really in charge! Lol. Sadie is adorable!

I have had some luck with our GSD , when she was a puppy.
I made sure to use her name often, seems recognizing her often by name made her aware of me and she listened better, did a lot of body massage (petting while she relaxed). The stroking of her front legs calms her immensely , even now. Pet her a lot around her face, like smoothing her fur...seems calming to her. The closer you can get into her head the more she realizes she needs you.

Sure glad you were there when she swallowed that bottle cap!
I have never raised a puppy but I have followed several bloggers who have recently, you included, and it sounds like it is more work that raising a child! At least a baby can't run around and chew everything for the first year or so. Fortunately both are cute.

Boy, except for the BIG size difference, you could be describing Zoey. Puppies are puppies aren't they?
Zoey knows, sit, shake, to ask to go potty,(but she gets scared too and also needs company.) She ignores "come" except when it's convenient for HER! But we sure do love her. Smart as a whip and uses it against us. :-)
I loved the pictures and reading of Sadie's adventures.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

She has really grown! She does look so innocent but I'm sure she isn't. The pandemic was good for one thing as it was reported that lots more people were adopting animals from the shelters. Evidently they needed companionship. Glad you saved her life!

You sure have to be watching Sadie every minuter that she's awake. Good thing you were watching when she got that bottle cap off.

It is fun to view her from afar. Barney bit his leash into when he was young and crazy. He calmed down as we walked miles and miles everyday with him on a leash. She is a pretty dog and I bet she is a sweet sleepy puppy. Long legs for sure.

Sadie sure is cute and I'm sure she'll be full grown before anybody knows it. Sounds like she's doing pretty good with the training. Your daughter is lucky you're there to help out and to save Sadie! Stay warm! Hope far guy's infusion went ok today and hope he continues to feel better!

Sounds like a very smart and busy little pup. It's the smart ones you have to watch the closest in my experience.
