My Mom also made this quilt a number of years ago. It is on the bed upstairs at home.
I should have pulled the coverlet off the bottom of the quilt, it matches the quilt. It may have been a Christmas gift also...I do not recall exactly. Someday someone may wonder about all the quilts we have...and the blog is a great way to leave a bit of history behind!
We had a quiet day yesterday with Little Elvis supervising afternoon naps. Far Guy managed the stairs a couple of times and he was on the treadmill. His recovery will be slow and we all have to be patient. That is just the way it is.

Your mother is an amazing quilter! I love the colors in the quilt and coverlet. My mom quilted and I do have one of hers but it was used for many years and has some rips and tears that I'm incapable of repairing. I did not get a quilt from her because I did not marry and that was a requirement. The one I have was the one they used on their bed.

I just love the colors in this quilt and coverlet. What marvelous gifts! I agree about the record of things. My grandchildren are small, but we talk about my parents and grandparents all the time and I am trying to share the history of all my mementos. We call my mom Gramma Lois and I went over all the decorations on the tree that were hers. When we come to my great grandmother, right now she is "Gramma Lois's mom". I just hope they can remember all I tell them and treasure these memory items like I do.
Slow and steady wins everytime. I'm glad Far Guy feels capable of stairs and treadmill.
That quilt is beautiful too. Heirlooms that will be so wonderful for generations to come.

I have the last quilt my late gramma made. Hand made, all.
I admire people like your mother who have the patience and skill to make large quilts. This on and the matching coverlet are so beautiful.
I am more and more realizing that slow and steady, while hard for me, is best.
I love homemade quilts and wish I had the ability to sew. My efforts over the years have never been wonderful, although I never tried to quilt. :-)
That is a beautiful quilt! Your Mother is sure a talented quilter. It is good to keep a record of all her quilts for the future since quilts do get passed down. I put a small label on the back of my quilts with the year and who it was made for. I have quilts passed down to me and all I know is that family members made them. I wish I knew more about them.
Those quilts are beautiful. Isn't it wonderful to have them? I still have things my grandmother knitted and crocheted, and just seeing them brings me warm happy memories. It's good to hear FG is having some improvement, even if it's slow.
She is very good at quilt making. I have so many yet to give away from my mom's collection.

Quilts are warm and heavy. My Grandparents used to have several in the cabin up north. They stared out cold, but quickly warmed up on those cold winter nights. Here in Iowa, The Amish and farmers take quilting very seriously.

Wow I needed to get over here sooner to see your quilts since I like to make quilts! (Dealing with shingles, so the pain keeps me from focusing on much right now.) The quilt and coverlet re absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I love the colors she blended together in them. I wish I could see them in person! // So glad FG is home and doing good. One day at a time.
