Sheila came over for a woodcarving session with Far Guy. They both like to carve flowers.
They are working on some roses, Sheila brought roses for inspiration. That circular block of wood in front of Far Guy will be a rose eventually.
They made good progress. I joined them but instead of carving I finished a crochet project.

You are up and posting early!
ReplyDeleteLooks like very intricate work.
ReplyDeleteAmazing talent.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your finished project. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this!!! :-D
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful work. I went to one class for this and enjoyed it so much. However, I never took it up.
ReplyDeleteFascinating! I zoomed in on the photos to see how the cylinders are being carved.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow!!! They are just exquisite!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING talent! Just amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat is mind boggling to me. How you can get such a beautiful rose out of a piece of wood! Amazing.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I like the photo of busy hands! O
ReplyDeleteWood carvers amaze me... they create such beautiful art. Glad Far Guy was feeling well enough to carve. What crochet project did you finish?
ReplyDeletea chemo hat
DeleteThe talent it must take to carve delicate flowers just blows me away! I like your crochet project too. Is that cute hat for a young one?
ReplyDeletea chemo hat
DeleteNice that Far Guy had someone to carve along with. To non-carvers the process seems quite amazing ( the block of wood to the rose stage).
ReplyDeleteThe thought that the block of wood becomes a rose is amazing to me. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I can hardly wait to see what FarGuy comes up with. He is so talented. That takes great patience and a steady hand. :)
ReplyDeleteWork sessions are fun. When I taught adult ed the classes ended up being like that but I still had to play the role of the teacher. I didn't get to work. The roses look complicated. I use to make roses in frosting when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteTo see a rose in a block of wood is a wondrous thing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like something I woukd not be able to do
ReplyDeleteCool roses! I used to carve with chisels and dremel tools. ( WeChreer, chainsaw...Foredom...Stuff like that.) I did not do much with a knife though.
ReplyDeletechainsaw I am impressed:)
DeleteThose flowers always turn out so beautifully. What a talent to be able to do that and how neat that there is a group that gets together to carve these beautiful flowers and other works of art. You both have much talent! Blessings to you both.
ReplyDeleteThose carvings are exquisite. I met a man once who used to whittle things - he said it was very relaxing and satisfying working wood with your hands.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine turning that piece of wood into a beautiful rose. That's amazing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
ReplyDeleteWood carving is something I don't think I would have the patience for plus I would go through a lot of wood! Not like crochet where I can tear it out and start over! :) I really admire you all!
