Almost Halloween

I bought some candy and bagged it up for the little ones that I hope will show up on Saturday night.  Bagged it up so I couldn’t eat it.  Then I bought some more of Far Guys favorite…so he can share if need be.

Witch

The witch is up…I like Halloween almost as much as May Day!  Fun days all about kids!  Our weather is supposed to be in the high 50’s for Saturday Night!!

Fall Flag

The scarecrow flag is up…I did get a few things crossed off my list yesterday.

We had a very interesting night before last.  I kept hearing strange noises like someone was outside horsing around.  I thought about waking Far Guy up but finally figured out what it was and went to sleep.  Far Guy was awakened by the strange sounds and thought we had a intruder…and he thought about getting the gun….then he realized what it was.

  Rocks

It was a sound we had not heard in a while…Chance heard it too and headed for the bathroom “his safe spot.”

When the snow slides off the steel roof it makes a rumbling noise and a swoosh when it hits the ground and we got enough snow to make noise on Wednesday night.  The photo is what is left over from the snow on the roof.  We have rocks on the east and west sides of the house…the snow makes a mess of anything planted…and gutters well you may just as well forget them…when the snow slides it slides.  One less thing we have to worry about during heavy snow years when people have to shovel snow off their roofs.

The snow is gone except for a few areas Smile

Goodness, you are talking about snow, and, I have air conditioning running. We still have warm weather with the occasional evening in the 60's. Like your witch wreath....

Hope you don't have any more snow for a week or two at least. It was in the low fifties here yesterday. We visited friends and had a wiener roast. We usually have one each fall before we give up and settle in for the winter.

I hate it when a strange sound wakes me up at night. Thankfully you both figured out it was just the snow sliding off the roof. Goodness, I can't believe you had that much snow. I saw a couple of flakes yesterday but not enough to mention. Let's hope the "real" stuff holds off for a few weeks yet. Happy Halloween and have fun with the "Trick or Treat" kids. Don't each too much of their candy.

Papa works for one of the steel companies he ships all the steel from here around the world for roves and buildings and he has built a few to . We will be getting a steel roof when the time comes they last forever . The weather here for Halloween is to be cloudy and chilly but we don't get any kids as our area is mostly retired or older folk with adult kids and Mennonites . Happy Halloween and hope you get lots of trick or treaters . Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend !

You stones have made me think this may be a solution to my problem on the west side of the house. Water keeps wanting to go under that side of the house. Short of a hundred foot french drain, I can think of no solutions...and ideals?

My next roof is going to be steel, and I'm debating whether gutters will be necessary.

Enjoy your Halloween.

Thank heaven I do not have to deal with snow at all. Some places near us are under flood watch as we have huge downpours of rain at the moment in Central Texas.

Oh my- snow! Well, have a happy Halloween, and I hope you see lots of kiddos in cute costumes and maybe the snow will wait a little while before it comes back!

We get that 'swoosh' off the roof too once the snow arrives.

I hate strange noises in the night and I lie there and wait to see if the dog will bark or not. Good that your noise turned out to be snow! I hope you get a good long break before more snow comes your way.

I want to eat our Halloween candy too. I'm not sure why I buy it. We live on a long driveway and probably get any kids coming to the door. Kids go to neighborhoods where it's easy to go from house to house. I'll just give it to my grandkids so I won't eat it all.
Happy Halloween. I hope you don't have any more spooks in the night for a while.

In the high 50s? Wait! But you just had snow the other day. How does that happen?!

I bought a little candy for the kids I hope we'll see around here, too. I bought stuff I like in case they don't come by and not very much of it! :-)

Snow sliding off the roof. Before Halloween. Does this mean we are going to have a long winter, I wonder?

I hope the kids show up for treats. I am going to discover if any come around this building or not. :)

Growing up, Halloween was something fun to look forward to. Back then it was safe to receive an apple or a homemade popcorn ball. I love your touches of fall decor; the flag is cute and oh, how I love Chance in his bandanna. I had a tiny cowgirl hat that Harriet wore for Halloween one year! lol We just had one trick or treater...the 1 yr old and I bought animal crackers for her - not my favorite - so I was safe! lol Love you guys.

I always wanted a metal roof. Can you hear the rain and snow or sleet with it? That's why I wanted it. This house is so well insulated I can't even hear thunder unless it's really loud. I want to hear what's going on outside.
