Signs of Fall

September is here.  I see signs all over.

Signs of Fall

Leaves and berries have begun to turn.

Slow Bees

The bees on the Gaillardia (Blanket Flower) are slow and drunk with nectar, their little legs are coated with pollen..perhaps it is their heavy legs that makes them lethargic.

Acorns Burr Oak

The acorns have formed.  I hear them go plink, plink on the steel roofs, sometimes it is almost like they are serenading me.  They are beginning to cover the ground forming a bumpy layer that attracts deer. Deer like acorns.  Chance doesn’t eat them..we had a dog that like to eat them once..it escapes me who it was.. perhaps it was G’Day Mate or maybe Captain, both Shelties buried under one of the Burr Oak trees in the yard where the acorns liter the ground and cover their headstone:(

We're seeing signs of fall, too. The leaves have fallen off the Ohio Buckeyes and the nuts are falling, too. We saw a big garden spider in its web this morning. That is another sign of fall around here.

Being a northerner, living in the south, I miss fall. I can tell it is fall here because all my flowers are baked to a crisp even though I have watered them everyday. Football is starting. I will have to go to Michaels to get some fall leaves. :)

If you're seeing it there, it will be here in another week or two.

Have a lovely Labor Day!

Yes ripening berries and leave color change are all normal indications of fall. If we stop and think for a minute fall is a beautiful season. I think I've just got an idea for a post!

I love fall. I can remember hearig the acorns hit our roof when I was a kid and then they would roll into the gutter. Had not thought of that in a long time!

You two have a restful weekend.

I love autumn but I don't love this drought we are having that is causing so many trees to lose their leaves because they are baked dry to a crisp.

If you have lots of acorns, I probably will not get to enjoy the Eastern Bluejays that have visited the past few years because of Acorn crop failures in the east.

I don't wanna see fall. WE hardly had summer. It never hit 100 yet. We're close the past day or so, though.
