Retreat Day 2

I will be busy with Christmas cards for days and days.  I picked a complicated pattern. Oh well.

I had a four hour nap during the day.  Son in law Andy brought us pulled pork for cowboy nachos, they were excellent. It was a good day.

Today I will pack up and head home.  We got a very welcome rain yesterday.

Retreat

It is fun catching up with the gals, hearing about their jobs and children and seeing what they are working on.

Sarah and I went out to breakfast and then to Hobby Lobby.  I had an afternoon nap.  I am making slow progress on the Christmas cards.

This week

I got to see baby Maziar who lives in Boston, he is my baby brothers Grandson.  I last saw Maz  when he was just a few weeks old.  He sure is cute and we enjoyed watching him play!

He is now 17 months old and came to see his Grandparents and Great Grandparents...I heard he liked the buttons on the bed at the Nursing Home where my Dad is.  By the way Dad is doing okay physically for the moment, however he did not know who I was on my last visit.

One day I got a package in the mail.

Mug rugs and dish cloths from Sam in Arkansas  a perfect gift!   Thanks Sam!!

Here is one of of my projects that I finished at Craft Retreat.

It is a mosaic pattern that is crocheted over a muslin zippered bag.  As you can see I still have plenty of yarn left!  Always fun to have a good supply of yarn for projects!  I have a number of muslin zippered bags waiting in the wings!

Home again

I made progress on the Christmas cards, they are ready to sign, stamp, address and tuck a Christmas letter into.  Yeah me!

Crocheting was slow...two projects were never touched.  I did have a few naps and time to relax and watch a few episodes of Manifest with my headphones on!   I will share my crochet projects soon.

The hallway inside Gather at Laporte, the bedrooms and bathrooms are all off this center hall and leads to the great room with the kitchen located on the "stage" of this old Town Hall where kids used to roller skate!

A very fun place to Gather!

Retreat 2022

I have known all the gals at retreat for years.  They are all friends of our youngest daughter Jen.

This year we are at a new venue that is owned by Jen and her friend Jamie, they bought the property last Spring.

The gals here are varied in their interests and talents. English Teacher, Chemistry Teacher, Physical Therapist, Nurse Practitioner, Social Worker, a Director of Patient Services and a Learning Specialist.

There are card makers, scrapbookers, quilt makers, digital bookmakers and just about everything in between.

It is a great place to gather!  There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The food has been awesome; tacos, loaded baked potatoes and chicken with cheese and bacon and roasted parsnips and carrots.

The view from my spot.

Headed home soon.

Home

I arrived home Sunday afternoon.  I unpacked my numerous bags of "stuff" and began laundry.  I finished (well almost finished) 131 Christmas cards.  Jen and I decided the cards need a little something more....so one of these days I will tackle that..after all I have time.   I also had a bit of time to crochet.

The new CAL (Crochet Along) started the morning I left for retreat...my yarn is all spread out on a bed upstairs...I just need a vision...color choices must be made....and a start should be attempted.

Far Guy did just fine...the house was spotless when I returned.  I had a nap.  It is good to be home.  Far Guy has a sore throat...so I will keep a close eye on him.  Most likely it is Fall allergies but you never know.

It was a good retreat...some of Jen's friends are so special...I always look forward to seeing them.

Cards

I have one hundred Christmas cards done.  I am tired of coloring,  I will be very glad to finish the last thirty cards before I leave here.  Far Guy is doing just fine without me. Andy was here and made supper again on the grill he cooked bacon wrapped chicken breasts and made homemade French fries. Yummy.

Just another day at retreat

I am still working on Christmas cards…I am making progress.  Slow but sure.

I have been to the same place for retreat eleven years. I have known most of the gals for a long time, they are mostly Teachers and Social workers or retired.  I am the oldest one here.  There is a huge room filled with six foot long tables so everyone has their own space. Off of the huge space are a kitchen, dining area, three bathrooms, a TV room, a dressing room and a number of bedrooms with twin beds. Once we get here we don’t have to leave unless we want too.  The grounds are lovely.  Most of the time the property is used as a wedding venue.

My baby brothers wife is here also, she is working on a cross stitch baby bib.

Long time friend Sarah is working on Christmas cards also…she will be done before me!

Son in law Andy cooked for us …pulled pork tacos, chips, salsa, margaritas and Mexican Mud Balls for dessert …fantastic food.  Andy went to visit Far Guy and stay the night…he will be back to cook Saturday night.

At retreat

I had a busy day yesterday, grocery pickup and finished packing up.  I did the final sanding on six more ornaments before I left, the total is seventy six ready to paint someday.  Then I left and drove almost an hour to the retreat. The leaves are turning fast so we are almost peak fall color. There are eight of us here so far.  Nothing major is happening on my table yet.  However some gals are working hard.

All are having fun…lots of giggling.

Note that they all have phones.

Too Cute!

Jen has kept me up to date of the goings on at Retreat. I got to say Hi to all the girls via facetime!  Everyone there is busy creating and giggling!

Here is one of the Gnomes that Jen made wearing my crochet hat...she gave a Gnome to each gal that attended.

Yesterday a photo of Cee Cee appeared on Facebook so I stole it to share with you. She is our Great Granddaughter.

Maddie calls her Little Miss...she is 6 months and 17 days old. What a doll!  She is wearing an outfit that we sent shortly after she was born.

We had a quiet day at home, Odda visited for the afternoon so I sat outside with her until it rained.  Leaves are falling out of the trees like crazy.

Paper Crafts

We did some very creative paper crafts at retreat.   I am back home and mostly unpacked.  Far Guy survived without me.   It was good to do out of the ordinary stuff but now it is good to be back home.

Remember I showed you that black piece of paper with lines on it?  Well after doodling this was the end result.  Jen had some snarky comments...and this one worked perfectly.  Far Guy says I am always rolling my eyes at him!  "I'm sorry, did I roll my eyes out loud?"

Jen also did a tutorial on how to fold one piece of double sided paper into the cutest little purse!

Perfect size for a gift card or a small gift.

I like being creative with paper...and apparently so does our youngest daughter Jen.

Many Christmas Cards were colored and covered in glitter....I still have many to do.

Retreat is over for another year.  On the way home I made a stop at a Farm Store and looked for snow boots...no luck with that this year...they did not have the ones I really like.  The leaves are not yet peak color here...the colors are not vibrant this year at least not so far.

Retreat

I am at the retreat with Jen.  I am working on Christmas cards.
The weather has turned cold.  I went shopping with one of the gals yesterday. Paper and yarn were found.
I am feeling a little better.
Far Guy is doing fine at home.
