Growing Grass

I sprinkled some grass seed in the spot where we ripped out that tree.  Last weekend when it rained there was germination!

Success!

Fall lawn work has begun.  I have mulched leaves twice now....yesterday it wasn't raining when I went out to do the side yard...then it began to rain...less dust in the air if the leaves are a tad wet.

Far Guy moved his woodcarving to the garage where it is a tad warmer.  Our weather turned cold and it may freeze soon.

I think today we are getting your Fall temps. Only 51 degrees here this AM. Leaves are turning and falling just not that many.

Gosh, we sort of need the rain for the spots I seeded! But we've had such a wet year so far, that I won't complain about it. 20 miles north of us there was a pretty big storm with hail.

Yikes.
The leaves around our house will fall like rain when all the locust trees loose their leaves. Then it is time to clean all the gutters.
Sigh.

Sounds like you two might be getting a tad recovered? I hope so. Getting sick and/or enduring the side effects of a booster shot is no fun - - especially for your birthday week.

The leaves haven't started to fall yet, but it is a chilly morning. We need rain.

I've had terrible luck seeding grass the last couple times I've tried it. I've had it germinate and grow up nice and thick but then it didn't survive the winter and nothing but weeds came back in the spring. I'm not sure if it needed more time to develop roots or because of our cold wet springs of late.

I love fall, but when those leaves get damp and begin to rot my allergies flare up. Cold here yesterday and again today, but then it should be a lovely warm weekend. Typical fall here.

It does seem you're both on the road to recovery. Or else you're simple working through the illness. Rest when you can.

It's been cool here too, nearing the freezing mark at night. Sunny day today with warmer temps expected for the next few days. I'll take it!

Fall is a good time to grow grass. Good to see the seed is germinating. I’m thrilled it’s beginning to cool off and that Fall is here.

Fall work can be a challenge as you have to do the work between cold, rain and very nice.

It's cloudy here today and only 64 degrees at noon. Must be fall.

I love fall. I'm not quite ready to mulch leaves, though. Soon!

Cold and wet is not so fun but I do sometimes just keep mowing through sprinkles. My seed that I planted weeks ago is now growing because it rained. We are not losing leaves yet.

We really need rain but it seem to split north and south of us just over us and we either get nothing or just a few sprinkles. Maybe tonight? We're having such nice cool weather right now that I'm just enjoying having the windows open. Especially since it was so hot just two days ago!
Blessings,
Betsy
