Making May Baskets

Making May Baskets has begun.  May Day happens in six days...so you better get crackin' with the making of the baskets.

The dining table was a flurry of activity over the weekend.  I rather like playing with paper.  I can be in my own little world,  minding my own business.

I happened onto half price Easter Candy at Wally World...love it when Easter and May Day are close together.

I have 28 baskets completed.  I need to get a bright piece of tissue paper to stuff inside before they are stuffed with candy.

That is neat! I'd forgotten all about the May Day celebrations. 28 baskets? Wow, you sure are full of energy!

You always remind me of this wonderful tradition, and I wish I lived near enough to you that I could receive one of those baskets. I'll take a virtual one, please. :-)

Sure wish I lived in your neighborhood. I remember the fun as a child making "baskets" and picking a few flowers for them - handing them on neighbor's doors, ringing the bell and running. From then on I enjoy doing something for someone without them knowing who did it!

I love to watch Terry and Linda start the water each spring and your May baskets :-).

Looks like fun. I should have started this tradition, but we are still dealing with Easter candy!

We never made May baskets as children but it sounds like fun to me. I see puppy noses so I'm betting they will be adorable!

What fun! I haven't made May baskets for many years - probably when my kids were still little. It was such a fun activity when I was a kid. Are these going to have little doggie faces?

Puppy noses look interesting. It is just as fun to make them as it is to give them out. Enjoy.

I remember making May baskets as a child. I would love to do it now too. Maybe next year.
Yours look like they're going to be so cute. I see puppy noses! Will we get to see the end product?
Blessings,
Betsy

So what do you do with them?! I don't think I know 28 people!

I think maybe I see eyes and noses and ears. :-)
I thought of you when I noticed May Day was coming up on Sunday.

I haven't done May Baskets for years! With my own children, the baskets were much more simple. We would fold a paper doily into a triangle and put a few wildflowers inside and hang them on neighbor's doors. Sometimes those wild flowers might even be dandelions. Most of them thought we were nuts. When I was in charge of storytime at our local library, I would make construction paper baskets with the kids and we would make paper and pipe cleaner flowers to put inside. The parents had never heard of May Baskets (poor things) and I would have to explain it every year.

Sure wish I lived close to you Connie. I'd help you fill those May Baskets. That's a tradition that I just love. And you're so creative with your baskets. Hope your hand is feeling better by the day!
