We both had our Covid Boosters on Thursday afternoon. We are both feeling fairly crappy; muscle aches, tired and very sore arms. We are happy to have it behind us again. It is supposed to be a rainy couple of days so it is a good weekend to spend resting up, napping and watching tv. I wonder if we will have to get these boosters the rest of our lives? It had been 7 months since Far Guys last booster and 5 months since mine, now we are on the same schedule anyway...misery loves company.
Cross something off our list.
We got rid of our telephone land line over the winter, can't say I miss it. When I don't want to talk to anyone I turn my phone off or leave it in another room and if it bugs Far Guy he can answer it.
I am watching Tournament of Champions a cooking show and Downton Abby. At night Far Guy and I have been watching The Repair Shop. It doesn't take much to entertain us.
We miss Little Elvis and Sadie and maybe even Phoebe the cat a little. Our reasons not to get a dog outweigh the reasons to get one. No fence, skunks, porkypines, raccoons, burrs of all kinds, deer and dog ticks are high on the no dog list...all in exchange for companionship and laughter. We can always go Up North and visit Little Elvis and Sadie and anyways Baxter seems to like us a little.

We got our booster last October & planning to get the 2nd sometime soon. I am ok with getting boosters as often as needed. We are talking about getting rid of our landline too but before we do that we are trying to figure out who has the landline number that we need to let know. We have a rescue dog that we took home with us when my mom passed in 2011.She had adopted this dog only 3 months before. We have had pets all our married 52 years but now realize that when this one passes we don't need to get another one. It will be sad but if our health holds up we will donate time to walk dogs at the local rescue.
I miss Sadie, too. She's sure a cutie. I think the snow will stop some day, and congrats on getting your boosters. We got ours last month.
We got boosted on Wednesday. I had a headache and fatigue the first day and a sore arm the second. I'm fine now. I get you on the dog, my last one died 4 years ago. I got my mother's dogs 2 years later. I still have one of them. I don't intend to get another when Keetah dies. We do have cats. I got rid of the landline and cable, satellite actually, 11 years ago.
Companionship, love and laughter far outweighs any "obstacle" for me/us. We have all those you mentioned, except porcupines. However, pets are not for everyone and as you know they are a life changing commitment.
You have plenty of doggies to love and help care for. Kinda like grandkids, you get to send them home ;)
We've kept our landline because our "bundle" for cable and Internet was actually cheaper with the phone. But I've unplugged them all and taken off the voicemail. There had been a LOT of scam calls again lately.
I was hoping to get my booster this past week, but it didn't happen. So now I'm planning on next week. Hoping my husband is willing to do it too. He always feels crappy the next day after any immunization. I usually feel fine.
I got my 2nd booster a few weeks back....just a sore arm this time unless my "illness" was a delayed reaction...lol! I would love another dog but no, for so m any reasons. I miss them still. Sometimes when I am sleeping a bark will wake me up sometimes Annie's and sometimes Nitty's...I think they are still around which is very comforting.

I'm mixed about getting a 2nd booster. The manufacturer has admitted that it only lasts 4-7 weeks and I'm not sure the risk outweighs the benefit for that short amount of time, you know? But I can surely understand why you folks got it. For some reason I thought you guys got a dog, after Chance passed. My feeble brain must be thinking of someone else. We've had our shelter kitty for nearly 2 years now & I greatly enjoy her company. But I don't think I'll ever have another dog again. The last ones died in 2005, of old age, and we babysit granddog once in a great while... and when I have to take her outside, in the dark, for that last time going potty before bed, I'm always reminded of why I've never gotten another dog. Maybe if I lived alone, a dog would be good protection if for nothing else than to bark at the first inkling of an intruder but... well... I'm not going to cross that bridge until I come to it. We need to schedule our second boosters. It's on the list. I did cancel our landline. Once we had cell phones, it seemed the only landline calls were politics and sales.

Glad you were able to get your boosters. I suspect we'll be doing so, like with the annual flu shot, for some time yet. My province is opening up boosters for my age group, in early May. I won't be getting mine until late in the month.
I got of my landline after I retired and I don't miss it at all. Like you, I can turn my phone off or leave it in another room. My son won't answer it so it can ring all it likes.

I'm sure Sadie does miss you! Whenever you do get to see her it will be extra special for all of you. We haven't had our fourth shot yet and need to do that. I hope you feel better soon from getting yours.
We watched Tournament of Champions, too. My question - - for any of these cooking competitions -- - how in the world are they able to get a fancy meal cooked in less than an hour?!! It takes me that long sometimes to do the prep work. However we do love watching - - and can sometimes guess the winner before they finish cooking.
We miss having a dog, also - - - but we are doing well to take care of ourselves at this point. A dog would not enjoy that we couldn't get out and be active with it like we used to. And we do not miss having our schedule revolve around an animal's bathroom habits. But we sure do miss that unconditional love!
I wondered about Sadie adjusting to your absence. Be prepared next time you see her, she may knock you down with her welcome!
We got our boosters several weeks ago so we would be protected for our London trip. Dennis had no issues but I didn't feel well for a couple of days and had a swollen arm for almost a full week. I hope we don't have to get them forever and I don't think that we will even if it's recommended. It doesn't seem right to put something into your bodies that make you feel so yuck, time after time.
We had a landline when we were in the house in Spokane because of the cable/internet/phone bundle but here we just have the internet and our cell phones. We rarely watch TV, instead we stream on netflix, utube, etc.
I can only imagine what Sadie thinks about her people being gone. As far as she new, you belonged there permanently. :-) She is so cute. We wondered about getting another dog and really had no intentions of doing it but we are "in love" with our little Zoey. She has been perfect for us. We have Piper and Lizzie staying overnight tonight and I'm looking forward to that.

Good work getting your COVID jab. I was apprehensive, but no reactions. I was a mess with #2, now we're up to 4.
That's such a good pic of Sadie catching snowflakes. I wonder how well she did at catching them? we were supposed to have 70 degrees today, then they changed it to 66 and finally it barely reached 62. And cloudy all day. Oh well....at least it's not snowing!
I'm sure Sadie does miss you, and I think most of us miss Sadie. Thank you for letting us watch her grow up.
It sounds like we'll get regular boosters un less they can come up with a better vaccine.
Andrea commented that taking a dog out in the dark was a bother she didn't miss. That's one of the things I DO miss. I could go out any night now but I don't bother. When you have to take the dog out you're forced to and I liked being out in the back yard looking at the stars. Early mornings in winter too. Obviously I'm too lazy now.
We will probably get our boosters on Monday at the library in town.
We kept our landline as our cell reception stinks in our spot. I can have no reception in the kitchen and on some days only get reception on the porch.
We kept it also for the ease of location for 9-1-1 calls.

I doubt I could do without a dog right now, but I am also lucky. Dogs with hound coats rarely pick up burrs. However there is that daily care.

Glad you've both been boosted. Hope you don't have anything worse than some aches and tiredness from it.
I'd get rid of my landline, but it's loads cheaper to call my in-laws via that (I'm in the UK, and they're in Canada). Would be fine if they had cellphones too, or were good enough with computers to use things like Zoom, because then we could either Facetime them or talk to them on Zoom. But they have enough trouble figuring out international phonecalls, so that's not about to happen.
I'm sure Sadie misses you loads. Yes, you can always visit... Just enjoy other people's dogs.
The dog probably hopes her owners would take another trip so she could come stay with you two. I have enjoyed watching her grow up.
