Last summer during my Mom and Dad's garage sale, my Mom had a bunch of old Christmas ornaments for sale. I took two ornaments...Far Guy's Mom made them during her Cross Stitch days and gave them to my Mom as gifts.
I in turn gave them to Jen.
Far Guy's Mom liked to cross stitch and did it until her eyes couldn't do the fine work anymore. It was a good hobby for her. I believe these ornaments were made in the early 1980's so they are about 40 years old.

The top ornament looks like one I cross stitched in the 80's. I have several I did on my tree.
Those certainly are heirlooms then! I have some tea towels that my Grandmother stitched on, they are kind of cute and I guess were made for each day of the week. I only have Monday Wednesday ones, but they are pretty neat knowing how much work went into them ages ago.
They are wonderful. I love the first one especially.
Awwww... I love these type ornaments, Connie. I'm glad you "rescued" them. I have several on my Christmas tree. My nephew's wife used to cross-stitch them years & years ago... thus the nickname my nephew gave to her... he used to always call her "Stitch". :-) ~Andrea xoxoxo
And such a special gift to pass along to your daughter. She will remember her grandmother every year when she takes them out. I have some crocheted snowflakes with my parents' names cross stitched on a button in the center. My mom's best friend made them for her and my dad one year (1970s of 80s). I kept them when my parents passed 30 years ago and they go on my tree each year. Brings a smile each time I hang them.
Merry Christmas! Hand-made ornaments are special, especially if they involve family history.
I love homemade family ornaments. I have several my mother made on my tree. My youngest granddaughter, who is five, loves to hear stories about my mom, Gramma Lois, and was thrilled when I pointed them out to her. I will be passing them to her and her mother.
I love that you passed these on to Jen. I know that she will cherish them. I make ornaments ever year for the kids and grandkids. I hope they keep them and remember me when they see them.
Blessings,
Betsy
Fantastic you were able to grab those and pass them on to Jen.
Those are so special. It's lovely they can be handed down within the family to be treasured.
I really appreciate ornaments with special meanings and memories.
They have held up great after all those years. I don't think I could do Cross stitch now, my eyes are getting bad as well. ( Not bad, bad... just I'm losing my close sight.)
They are great keepsakes. I assume Jen did know her grandmother who made these.
Lovely family heirlooms!! Merry Christmas to you and Far Guy. Not sure if I'll get to post again before Christmas.
yes she did!
Those are pretty amazing! Glad you kept them in the family.
Oh, I am so glad you kept them in the family! :)

They are lovely! Merry Christmas!!!
That is a great find! They will be beautiful on the tree for years to come.
