What a difference

two months makes…well two months and ten days so technically seventy days if you are counting.

Brown… all shades of brownness…colder weather…seed heads hang heavy…wind rustles through the leaves that used to catch the sun….crispy.IMG_1128

Sunflower Field

Almost the same spot I stood last August…delighted.

Sunflower Field near Park Rapids

Delighted in cheerful yellow blooms.

Thank you sunflower farmer whoever you are.

The sunflower photo is beautiful...and, interesting. I did a google search and read how sunflower farming plays such an important role in the worlds' economy.

Well, it's almost a full season's difference: from summer to fall in seventy short days. Lovely contrast, and that sunflower field of yellow is truly delightful. :-)

Yes, things have changed fast in a month! And it's white here this morning!

Guess it will be a short fall this year and right in to winter for you.
We are getting much cooler weather here but it will be back in the 80 last half of the week.

But seeds are filled with magic and will make new beauty in the springs.

I love to see fields of sunflowers, too, but they are very rare in this area. It's hard to be grumpy when you see their bright, happy blooms.

If Heaven is yellow, I think you found it! Are there still seeds in those heads?

A field of sunflowers in bloom is impressive.

Oh, no...here we go again :(

I'm with goodnightgram: my first thought on seeing your first photo was to go dead-head all those brown blossoms! Seeds are promises of a new year. What a bonanza that field would yield!

Yes the seeds are waiting to be harvested:)

I suppose they will be picking the sunflowers soon. I picked mine and they are still drying out. I bet they would like them to dry out as much as possible in the field. I remember driving from Hill City south and going through fields of sunflowers on both sides. It is quite a sight.

What a beautiful photo of those sunflowers in the summer. My daughter is up in your state this weekend in Minneapolis attending a Women of Faith conference. She goes with her friends from church and they have so much fun! She's going to get me a jar of lingon berries at Ikea as they are my favorite on pancakes. It is only 59 here at noon and I am loving it! Let the "cozy" begin! Stay warm!

Lovely photos , Yes the temps and weather change so fast . Oh all my birdies would love to be in that field now feasting on the seeds of the heads of those sunflowers , that is after they are all done with them here lol ! Cold one here today eh? temps are 6C and feels like 2C winds make it feel so much colder BRR ! wet snow flying about every now and then as we were out there finishing up the yard and garden clean up ! Miggs had a blast in the piles of leaves as she does every fall lol ! Thanks for sharing have a good day !

And all the birds I feed sunflower seeds to have reason to be thankful as well. For our county though its all about corn, soybeans ethanol and a bumper crop this years. Oh and money...;)

This morning we had a light frost. I think it's our first one. We're supposed to be back in the 70s in a few days. We've reached the up and down temperature season.

Great post! It is those seed heads hanging heavily that will bring a return to those golden blooms another August day. Always the promise of more to come if we just wait.

Quite a contrast, and a reminder of the changes inherent in life here on Earth. It's easy to think sadly of the dead brown sunflower field but there is beauty there in its potential to create many, many fields of sunflowers from this one field. Wonderful photos!

Harvest time! And so it goes. I remember that cheery summer pic. :)

We "seed eaters" are happy tho! Love the identical shots too!

Even though I love winter, months of all that white do get to me. At least in the brown of fall, there are different hues.

I do love the August sunflower photo!
