60

Well the name of the blog is NOT changing.  When I began to blog apparently I did not have the forethought to wonder what it should be called if I lived to be over 59 years old.   60 is still the Far Side of Fifty as far as I am concerned.

Connie second birthday

I am now “older than dirt.”   A long time ago when I was younger I thought anyone older than 50 was ancient. As I grew older I adjusted that to be 60..now I am there and no matter how much I would like to make that adjustment I cannot.

Logically I should just accept the fact that I am no longer a spring chicken and have become an old bird. Sometimes a cranky old bird.

I never ever thought I would reach 50 years old..60 was not even a possibility.   Yet here I am.  I should have been more prepared.

My other baby brother and “she who sees robins first” took us out on Saturday evening for a Prime Rib dinner to celebrate my birthday.  My other baby brother said “If you are turning 60 the least I can do is buy you dinner.” It was yummy!  In 9 years when he is 60 I will return the favor. ( Goodness gracious I will be on the cusp of 70 by then. Perhaps I should tuck 50 bucks away in an envelope marked other baby brothers sixtieth birthday steak, just incase I croak before his big day.)

I am not certain what wonderful thoughtful gift I will get from my husband.  Chance may have been shopping too, that dog is resourceful.  I heard my daughter was gifted a Waffle Iron for turning 36.  Romance runs rampant with birthday gifts up here in the Northland:)

And a very happy birthday to you from another who passed the 60 mark at the beginning of the year. My mind still tries to tell me that I'm sooooo much younger but the body just doesn't agree! Enjoy your celebrations.

I'm glad to hear you aren't changing the name of your blog, since yep, you are STILL on the far side of fifty, just a little farther. Happy birthday on that great milestone, Connie. A steak dinner is probably only the first... :-)

Happy Birthday. These decade markers are worst coming up to, not so bad once you actually get there - it's a whole new phase of life. And getting older means you can be more outspoken and controversial, people will excuse it for early onset of senility.

Happy Birthday -- I crossed to the "Far Side" in July and understand your thoughts perfectly.

Love the post photos and the new header: Chance is a real charmer in every one of his photos.

Enjoy your day.

I'm a year or more older than you. The one thing I always thought was odd was friends who were older, grey, wrinkly, who had living parents. And here I am now, with a mother and M-I-L, and hubby and I have (a few wrinkles ) . HBTYOOOOoooo

Happy birthday. I'm sure Chance got you a gift. He is thoughtful that way. Now 'Far Guy'... oh just kidding - I know he remembered your day. When I was young I too thought that 50 was old. Well here I am at 55 (56 next week) and I'm feeling it too. I've done got over needing to have makeup on or color on my hair. I still color but it doesn't bother me when it isn't fresh. Soon I'll done the au'naturele look. Thinks change not just the sagging skin.

Happy Birthday, Far Side! You're only 10 months older than me. ;-)
And there is no reason to change the name of your blog, because it only tells the truth. :)

Looking forward to seeing what sensible gift you get. That's how we do it here, too. :)

Happy birthday Far Side and many more...
We just keep rolling along so we might as well enjoy life as it comes. Being crabby is part of the deal so you will be allowed to grouch a bit.

I like your idea of stashing 50 dollars in an envelope for your brother's birthday, years in advance. Ha ha. I am also "older than dirt." Enjoy.

I can't believe I'm sixty this year also -- a month earlier than you! Sixty is my mother's age NOT MINE! :) You could call the blog the VERY FAR SIDE OF FIFTY. LOL

Happy Birthday Connie. Please don't change the name as I'm tooooo
old to remember a new name. I love your blog and would be very upset when I couldn't find it. Can't wait to hear about your gift.

Your blog's name should fit fine 'til you're 100 and beyond. More than can be said for my blog's name. Maybe I'll just consider myself in midlife for the duration....

Ok. I'm buying it. Congratulations. However, it has inspired me to think of changing mine to The Far Far Side of 39. :)

60 is the new whatever, if you only thought of 50 I guess 60 is a big shock just kidding..my sister in law turned 60 on 6/15/11 her boss gave her a cake with candles upside down so she could not light them up, the cake was tasty according to her hubby, she spent it at a bingo place, guess some people do different things for different birthdays..enjoy your year it will fly by quickly, happy happy, luv your sweet blog..

the last time I received a "romantic" gift was.... uh... never. I love the practical gifts I get, I really do, but they could be wrapped in fur, or gold, or at least lace. Uh that'll never happen. You will so not be dead in ten years. I said so. You might forget where the envelope is but you won't be dead.
