Sundogs

We had sundogs on Friday morning.  I took a photo out the dining room window.

We got a phone call that our Income Taxes were done....so we decided it was an okay day ( better than next week when it will be bone chilling cold) to go to town to sign the proper papers and pay the bill.  We could cross something off our list of things to do!

It was blowing a bit out there.

In the morning she who sees robins first dropped off our mail and in the afternoon she dropped off venison soup!  It was delicious and had lots of carrots!!  I had it for supper, Far Guy had a small bowl of soup with his lasagna.

Friday is usually catch up day around the house... I did some laundry, dusted and cleaned the bathroom...had a nice nap in the afternoon.

Special Delivery

One of our neighbors brought us a box of produce!

Curts corn and tomatoes

The tomatoes are the best ever!  We had the sweet corn and one of those huge tomatoes for supper last night.  The tomato was so meaty you had to cut it with a knife into bite size chunks….talk about flavor!

Curt has been growing produce especially tomatoes since he was a boy in Arkansas, he started growing tomatoes to sell to help out his family.  He never tired of growing them and now at 80 something he still grows and sells them.  He puts a sign out by his driveway and is known locally as The Tomato Man.

Curt knocked on the door yesterday and said here try these!  Far Guy took him a whole bunch of “flats” the flat boxes to put produce in earlier this summer.  Occasionally he has computer troubles and we try to help him out. He is all alone, his wife died several years ago.

He explained why tomatoes sometimes crack.  We always thought it was uneven watering.  Curt says “Night time temperatures that are cool makes the skin of the tomato tough and inside the tomato is still growing and finally cracks the skin.”

Curt grows mostly old fashioned tomatoes …ones he had good luck with over the years, if he can find the seed.  We used to plant all of his seeds for him, he would come visit the seedlings in the vegetable greenhouse and about Memorial Day he would bring over his van and fill it with seedlings.  Far Guy used to breathe a sigh of relief when those plants were gone.

This year we had two tomato plants out in the raspberry patch…they both died.  We are not the gardeners that we used to be.

Chance and Odda.  You can see that the trees are starting to turn and the grass has gone dormant.  The dogs only sat still for a minute.

The moon is almost full over a potato field.  The harvest should be starting soon..the weather is most likely too warm, it was 90 degrees today:)

The Clinic

We have a brand new clinic in our nearby berg. Far Guy dropped me at the door and parked in back forty and hiked in, even the Handicap parking area is a block away. The parking lot has no safe Pedestrian walkway..everything was icy and cars were sliding all over..I wonder if the clinic planners had that in mind to increase their business. Cars versus Pedestrians is sure to produce some injuries for them to practice on. I feel sorry for the handicapped, elderly and the Mom's with more than one small child, they are taking their lives in their hands just walking from the parking lot to the clinic.

The doors are so heavy, you have to use both hands and your body weight to open the door. I am not one to use those handicap silvery buttons to open doors...until now. Once inside you are greeted to slate floors..classy..and cherry-wood..even more classy..they even have some of those new fancy "fat chairs". Fat Chairs have finally come to the boonies, in the section where we were sitting there were 12 regular chairs and 14 fat chairs. When I pointed this out to Far Guy he said maybe I was being a bit harsh..maybe they were Mom and Kid chairs. Maybe they were.

Far Guy has a regular Doctor at the clinic. I still have my regular Doctor in Fargo. I am usually not a "sick person" so I can avoid the clinic entirely. I happened to get one of the "Travelling Physicians"..she was a doll, she took very good care of me. I cannot say one bad thing about her. She is the closest to a perfect Physician that I have ever seen in that clinic. They must have replaced some of the Administration when they went from the old building to the new.

For those of you that really care, my blood pressure was really good for being dehydrated. It pays to stay away from Far Guys Coffee! I am feeling a bit stronger today. However Far Guy has grounded me for the entire week. I am to do quiet things and nap. So that is my plan for the entire week. In another twenty four hours I won't be contagious anymore. Jolynn stopped by yesterday with beef soup and fresh bread..really yummy! She stayed near the door and handed the stuff into Far Guy..he was so thankful..and so was I :)
