Up North

We were Up North for a procedure that was cancelled and a Dr appointment.

We had supper one night with the Great Grandchildren and supper one night with Grandson Noah and his wife Hanna.  We did more that eat...we petted Sadie, played cards and went to Menards.

Nice to get a photo where Peach isn't trying to strangle Baby K.

After we left Up North we heard that Cee Cee put a rock up her nose that required a trip to the ER and an Xray.

Something always happening when there are four!

ONE!!

Our youngest Great Grandchild turned one year old yesterday!

What a cutie!   She had a party yesterday but we did not attend.  Jen took a photo and shared it with me!

At one year old she finally has a few teeth, she is crawling but not walking. She is not talking very much.  She still has a short fuse as in no patience when she is hungry, thirsty or tired...she pitches a fit and you are left to figure it out!  FYI  none of her siblings were like that so she is uniquely herself.

Happy Birthday Baby K!  We love you!

May 2026 The Greats

We had a good visit with all four of our Great Grands.

Mostly smiling!  Baby K is crawling on all fours now and she has it mastered!  She loves her brother very much...her cheeks were a bit red as she is getting a few more teeth.  Hey Mikey has his own room, Cee Cee has her own room and the little girls have to share a room in their new home.

Who knew that pizza should be accompanied with copious amounts of Ranch Dressing!

May Day!

We were traveling on May Day...we managed to get a few May Baskets to the neighbors and to a little guy for his first May Day.   More baskets will be delivered on May 2nd....not quite as special but better than a kick in the butt.

We did May Day one day early with our "Greats"

Baby K finally has some teeth and instead of Candy she got soft baby treats.

Hope you all had a wonderful May Day!

The Greats

One guess where the Great Grandchildren are this week.

Peach and Cee Cee waiting for their brother to come off of a ride that they were too small for.

Baby K and a Princess
Peach and a Princess
Looks like they are having fun.

Hey Mikey
And eating well too!

We had a quiet day at home.  I did some laundry and cleaned the bathroom for excitement.

Jen made egg bake and pineapple for supper.  It was delicious.

Years ago when Far Guy was stationed at MacDill AFB in Florida we visited Walt Disney World several times...it opened in 1971 and we were stationed at MacDill in 1973 and 1974.

Great

 Here are our Greats!

At least three of them were looking at me!

Tuesday night I held the pickles hostage until after they finished some food on their plates!  It was a good meal and good to see them all!

Wednesday weather: Chilly!  High was 2F or -17C  Low was -17F or -27C.

Supper was delicious leftovers!

Baby K Baptism

Baby K was baptized last Sunday.  We did not attend because of Influenza A that is going around.

Maddie shared photographs.

Brenton holding Peach on the far left and Maddie on the far right.

Baby K is wearing the baptismal gown that her brother and sisters wore that is made out of my wedding dress.

Galatians 3:26-27

"So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized in Christ have clothed yourself with Christ'

We are have nasty winds and blowing snow...and way below zero windchills.  We are in a Winter Storm warning and a Blizzard watch until late on Sunday.  High was 4F or -16C  Low was -1F or -18C eh.

Supper was leftovers for me...coleslaw, sweet potatoes and some lil smokies.  Far Guy had a Philly Sandwich that Jen brought home from the Blue Moose where she ate lunch.  No cooking!!

The Greats

The Great Grandchildren were here on Sunday.  Wish we could bottle that energy!

You can always count on babies to scratch themselves before holiday photos.

Yesterday I finished ordering the 2026 Calendar...the Greats will be 9, 6, 3 and 1 in 2026!

We had a beautiful day yesterday!  The sun was shining!

Minnesota weather; High 43F or 6C Low was 15F or -9C  at least it is windy!

Making goodies

Sunday was baking/creating day.  Maddie came over with the Greats.

Maddie made peanut butter blossoms, a chocolate chip/Reeses cookie and then Bugles with some almond bark and a M &M...I think it was supposed to look like a Grinch hat:)

Andy made truffles, pretzels with a Hersheys kiss and an M&M...one night last week we did the pretzels with a Rolo candy and a pecan on top.

I got to feed Baby K.  She got really mad at me when her bottle was done...her mood goes from okay to screaming crisis mode just like that.  No whining or fussing...just screaming!

She is very focused on her Mother's voice and her siblings make her giggle.   She had a bubble bath and afterwards I clipped her fingernails while she was asleep!

I can report that Maddie put an undershirt on the child!!

It was a chilly day.  High was 6F or -14C low was 3F or -16C

Supper was a bacon cheeseburger, french fries and a chocolate shake...Andy is one heck of a cook!

Happy 46th Anniversary to my other baby brother and she who sees robins first!

Visit to the Farm

Our friends Sarah and Chris have a Flower Farm.  This is their first year adding trees, porch pots, table decorations and various crafts for sale in late November and early December.

They have several spots for picture takers.

Inside photos too!  Our three great Granddaughters!  Inside the gift shop was much warmer for photos!  The girls wrote letters to Santa and left them in the mail box:)

It was a fun visit.  A few weeks ago Jen and I helped Sarah create some table decorations...all were sold and she could have used a few more...maybe next year!

Minnesota weather; High 9F or -13C Low was -7F or -22C eh!

Supper was leftovers...so no cooking only warming up!

A good fit

I finished a hat and matching booties for Baby K.

The hat ...it fits...it covers up her ears and that was the main intent.  Babies that get cold air in their ears get earaches and ear infections...just an observation over the years.  Hope Baby K has an undershirt on...I do check that from time to time and give her Mama the what for on undershirts:)  ( Babies need the layers to stay warm and cozy)

All the "stuff" for Christmas cards arrived so that will keep me busy for a few days.

Far Guy and I went out for a late lunch after his weekly infusion...so supper is left overs if you are hungry. I love a no cooking day!

Minnesota weather; Downright chilly. High was 24F or -4C Low was 18F or -8C  and it was WINDY!

Booties and a hooded scarf with pockets

The smaller booties fit perfectly. At the end of November Baby K will be six months old.

No more cold feet for Baby K.
Cee Cee has the hooded scarf on backwards but you get the idea.  She liked it but thought it had a lot of holes.  When you are five years old you have lots of opinions!
Baby K and Cee Cee posed for a nice photo!

We had a fairly calm Sunday.  I did some laundry and we both worked on the Christmas Ornaments.  Hopefully in the next few days we can complete that project!

We have a really busy week coming up with ten appointments.  One at a time we will get them done.

Booties and Busy

I have been working on booties for Baby K.  Her feet get cold.  I struggled with the size...but she is growing so the larger ones will fit sooner or later.

I made four pair...one pair is really large:)  I wrote better instructions on my pattern this time.

We will see how they fit Baby K.

Busy week with Radiation for Far Guy and other medical appointments.  Yesterday he was held hostage in the Infusion Center for 2 1/2 hours...someone messed up a couple of times...they thought he was in radiation when in fact he was sitting in an Infusion Chair with his IV in and waiting and waiting...he was not a happy camper.  Our day of appointments started at 8AM and we did not get back home until 2:30 PM. Four appointments and a trip to the pharmacy was too much for one day.  Today (Friday) should be easier....only one appointment.

I had plenty of time to pick up groceries at Wally World, go into Aldi for fresh fruit and to eventually end up in Hobby Lobby for the second time this week....AND I had a good amount of time in the car to crochet while waiting for him to get his weekly infusion.

Possibly some very soft yarn jumped into my cart.   Might be something for little girls...who knows.  Hat, ear warmers...one never knows.

Greats and a Grand

Granddaughter Maddie and her husband Brenton visited us on Wednesday night, we had pizza as all the kids love pizza! Pizza and pickles a perfect meal for the kiddos!

Halloween Report

We had four Trick or Treaters!  Our niece Stacey's children.

Ava the skeleton glowed in the dark.  Brooke was a girl!  Kelly was something in sports a coach maybe and then Lola a skeleton/fairy.

The report from Up North. Our great grandchildren.

A Devil Diva, a Porcupine Wild in the Woods, a Baby Bat held by Peely from Fortnite!  They carved pumpkins on Thursday night.

Peach wrote all over the front of her pumpkin with a marker.  Good job Peach!

Hey Mikey

Baby K

Peach was a porcupine!

The quills were awesome.  Stir sticks attached together with duck tape and then glued to a piece of fake fur and then attached to a hooded sweatshirt found at a thrift shop with Wild in the Woods on the front!

What fun!

Greats

Cee Cee had a minor surgery yesterday to put tubes in her ears. Hopefully she will be able to hear better.  She has very thick ear wax that clogs her ears.  Early indications are that she can hear better, she says she can...but she still talks loudly.

Peach, Baby K, Hey Mikey and front and center Cee Cee.  Jen took this photo and Maddie had it on her facebook post so I shamelessly stole it from her!

We will be seeing more of the Greats when we are up in East Grand Forks Minnesota/Grand Forks North Dakota over the Winter.

Jen sent me this photo last night with all the Great Girls!  She went over to check on Cee Cee after her surgery....and for hugs and snuggles!

Long Week

We ended our week with Far Guys infusion and my PT appointment.  The therapist says he noticed improvement so I must have done something right!

I may stay in my jammies all day on Saturday!  Next week we do not have five medical appointments..only two possibly three.

I got to see the Great Grandchildren on Wednesday evening.

Baby K is growing and they say she smiles!  I got to hold her and save her from Peach...who doesn't yet understand what gentle means.  (Think eyes, nose and mouth a favorite game I play with her.)

Hey Mikey, Peach and Cee Cee

The big kids started school.  Hey Mikey is in Grade 3 and Cee Cee is in Kindergarten.

Here they are on the first day of school...all smiles!

A little good news

Good news at the Oncology visit!  The tumor shrunk even more!   Dr B is very pleased and encouraged!

The genetic testing came back...Far Guy has a gene for cancer.  It is the CHEK2 Gene mutation.  However this does not change his treatment.  He is also a carrier for MSH3.   The Doctor explained that folding genes get messed up...I don't understand it all.  I understood the Alpha One Gene Mutation better than this new gene mutation.

Treatment stays the same and in 30 days he will have a Pet Scan for exact measurements.  After that time we might be able to go to once a month visits...maybe.

We got to see Jen and Sadie, Brenton, Maddie and the girls and have pizza with them. Baby K is growing and is the new favorite baby at daycare:)

Peach on the right was just about ready to pull her sister hair in this photo.  The terrible 2's have begun. A bit later she grabbed a whole handful of hair and yanked on it.  It was funny/not funny.

We slept in our own beds there...comfy as always. We left on Tuesday morning and returned home to the woods on Wednesday evening.

Happy Birthday to Son In Law Andy...he turned 50 on Tuesday!  He was at the Mall of America for a  Tournament.

Saturday all day

Saturday was a day.  I cleaned part of the bathroom that didn't involved bending over, put a few things in their proper place and did some laundry.  I had a long nap in the afternoon.   We had Grilled Cheese Sandwiches for supper.

Minnesota weather: High was 74F or 24C and the low was 53F or 12C eh!   Far Guy sat outdoors for awhile.  He is still mostly miserable with the side effects from the cancer drugs.

Last Tuesday I took a photo of Jen holding Baby K.  Baby K is growing.

Sadie and cooking with Maddie

Sadie loves the pool. She has her own dock that she can use to get out of the pool.  Lately she is being difficult bringing back the pool ring.  She retrieves it just fine but then will not give it up and takes it way on the other side of the pool and drops it…we will get her figured out soon.

Maybe we just need a bucket of toys!

Maddie and Baby K were over, Baby K slept the entire time.

We made scalloped potatoes with ham. Maddie likes to learn how to make different foods for her growing family. We made the rue with equal parts butter and flour (1/4 cup each) stirred and stirred some more then add 3 1/2 cups of milk and stirred some more until almost boiling then poured over sliced red potatoes and ham sliced up in bite size pieces. Bake for about an hour and fifteen minutes at 350 degrees F. I have an oval blue and white speckled enamel pan that I like to use for many things I put in the oven. I like to add some Parmesan Cheese before serving. ( If you make the rue with rice flour it is a gluten free dish)

Noah stopped by after work to check on the elderly.

Happy first day of July!
