Good news at the Oncology visit! The tumor shrunk even more! Dr B is very pleased and encouraged!
The genetic testing came back...Far Guy has a gene for cancer. It is the CHEK2 Gene mutation. However this does not change his treatment. He is also a carrier for MSH3. The Doctor explained that folding genes get messed up...I don't understand it all. I understood the Alpha One Gene Mutation better than this new gene mutation.
Treatment stays the same and in 30 days he will have a Pet Scan for exact measurements. After that time we might be able to go to once a month visits...maybe.
We got to see Jen and Sadie, Brenton, Maddie and the girls and have pizza with them. Baby K is growing and is the new favorite baby at daycare:)
Peach on the right was just about ready to pull her sister hair in this photo. The terrible 2's have begun. A bit later she grabbed a whole handful of hair and yanked on it. It was funny/not funny.
We slept in our own beds there...comfy as always. We left on Tuesday morning and returned home to the woods on Wednesday evening.
Happy Birthday to Son In Law Andy...he turned 50 on Tuesday! He was at the Mall of America for a Tournament.
Far Side
Great news for Far Guy; I also find the technical side of the story about the gene difficult.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Andy!
Best regards.
A little good new is always nice, and yeah the terrible twos can last a long time or at least it can feel like it does with some children
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the good news about Far Guy's cancer treatments. Doctors and Scientists have learned so, so much since we were children.
ReplyDeleteGenetics have me slightly befuddled but I understand it is a complicated science. I have not been tested for the BRCA1 gene which my sister had.
ReplyDeleteThis is good news for you both and I hope that the shrinkage continues and that FG can get off the meds that make him so ill.
Congrats!
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day this knowledge of genes will prevent everything that ails us.
Relieved to hear the tumor continues to shrink. Both of you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear your good news! They have certainly made great strides in cancer research and understanding it. I can feel your relief just flooding through your words.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news!!! It made my day as I'm sure it made yours! I'm thrilled! Congrats to Far Guy!
ReplyDeleteI’m going to read about these mutations! It’s about time you had some good news. I smiled at the comment about your house in the woods. You are Pa and Ma ingalls!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got good news!
ReplyDeleteHurrah! This is fabulous news. You both must be walking on air!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news! The treatment may be horrible for Far Guy but the results are certainly encouraging.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your SIL, Andy!
Kids get excited and more active. Then they get in more trouble. Good to hear that there is some good news about Far guy.
ReplyDeletePraising God with you all for more shrinkage of the tumor!!! What fabulous news. Knowing that will help your sweet husband during the bouts of nausea and other horrible side effects of the drug. Modern medicine is amazing regarding the things they have discovered regarding the genes.
ReplyDeleteIt is so much fun to read about the adventures at Jen's house. It is not Grand Central there but some days has lots of fun activity. I am so very thankful you all are able to be there part of the time when you have appointments. Plus everyone seems to be enjoying every minute of life - - - even just the regular every day ones. Also super happy for Sadie who gets to see two of her most favorite adults when you are there.
Oh that is good news... except for having a cancer gene. Praying for healing for you both.
ReplyDeleteThat's WONDERFUL news!! And those babies are adorable!
ReplyDeletehugs
Donna
That’s the kind of news to celebrate! Continued prayers for both of you.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Far Guy got some good news! Even if a little. I hope you both continue healing and can enjoy taking Tilly for a spin :)
ReplyDeleteGood news is always welcome, even when, or maybe especially when it is about a shrinking tumor.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Andy..... I'm am Praising God that the tumor has shrunk. this is awesome news today!!!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you got some good news! Those little girls are growing so fast! Bet Sadie was happy to see you. :)
ReplyDeleteAny good news is a reason to rejoice 🍻🍰🎈
ReplyDeleteThat is the best news!!! Whoohoo! May it continue to shrink and disappear!!
ReplyDeleteThat made my day! :)
Great news! Congrats to far guy! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHooray! Hoping for continued progress, returning appetite and energy.
ReplyDeleteGood news! Bruce's last scan 2 weeks ago showed no new growth so we were happy.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo - the moment before the grab! She is a fast learner to get away with it the second time. It sounds like a lovely visit.
ReplyDeleteMore shrinkage!!!! I am so excited for both of you. I don't understand all the testing either, I am sure the people who do are considering everything carefully. But what a great report!
