Crochet Project

I played yarn chicken one day in early June (before I had surgery).

That is the remnant of yarn after I finished a row...it was close.

This is one of the shawls that I like doing and have been using up yarn in my stash....

Here is that same piece...I wash it and rinse it gently and then pin it to my foam boards to dry.

After it is dry I take a photo of it and put it away in a drawer.

It is a quite large lacy shawl that can be worn many ways.

Back in May I started this one in off white.  I have not touched it since I put it in its project bag with a hook and the pattern.

Monday was a quiet day, I was tired, Far Guy was nauseated most of the day.  I warmed up freezer meals for supper.  My baby brothers bride brought us some green beans the other day.  They sure were good with a bit of butter!

Minnesota weather: High of 79F or 27C our low was 68F or 20C eh!

One day  at a time!

  1. Beautiful shawls. I made the kids some, but they never wore them. What yarn do you use? Hook size? Is the pattern online? Just in case I need a "palate cleanser" project ha ha! Hope you both feel better soon.

    1. Any lace weight yarn, I use Cascade Yarn but it has been discontinued. Size 4 crochet hook. I have had the pattern for years not sure where I got it from:)

  2. I never thought about being able to wash such creations. I still have a throw blanket my great grandmother knitted me as a baby that I'm sure would probably benefit from a gentle washing. I don't have the foam boards or the pins to hold it in place though.

    1. You can use bath towels on the floor and stretch out the blanket to dry.

  3. I love the lacy look of your shawl. I haven't crocheted or knitted in years - maybe I'll have to get back to it.

  4. Uffdah. We are going to go into some very warm and humid times again. Yuck. Then more bad thunderstorms.
Looks like a good week not to do outdoor work! Gosh when summer is as bad as wicked cold winter days.

I sure hope FG feels better. Nausea is no fun.
    Your projects look amazing.

  7. My first impression was that you had made a bed cover that I found lovely. Then I read further! The shawl is pretty. Get it out of the drawer this winter.

  8. Lucky you on the temp. We’re at near 100 daily. The shawl is exquisite. Wonder if the patterns difficult. If I could find the patt I might give it a go.

Poor FG. He’s in misery. So you are in there too. 🫶🏻

  11. My favorite way to eat fresh green beans is to saute them in olive oil and when they are done add soy sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds. YUM!!! Enjoy your day, ask the doctors for something to ease the nausea, they do have meds that can help. Such a tough thing to have to go through. Hugs, Kara

  13. That shawl is gorgeous and the off white one will be a delicate beauty. Kristina,(Pioneer Woman), beat me to the question of the pattern. Bummer. I would love to make those for the hospital oncology center. Oh, well. I'll keep looking for one I like.
I'm so sorry that you're still so tired and Far Guy is so sick. It can be discouraging, I know. Remember you both have lots of people who love you, even people like me that you've never met. We're praying for you both. One day at a time is a great mantra.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  14. Such a beautiful shawl. The open lacy look makes it very elegant, and that blue is gorgeous! The size of it really allows for different ways to wear it. Great job!! The off-white one will be just as pretty!

  17. I am assuming Far Guy has been given prescription anti-nausea drugs. I have used several different ones since my blood cancer diagnosis. The chemo nurse who hooks me up to my treatments told me there is a shot available also. I have not tried it. According to the nurse all the anti-nausea drugs can cause constipation.

  21. What a beautiful shawl, Connie. I love the color...such a beautiful shade of blue. I'll be those green beans were deeee-licious! Is FG taking something for his nausea? There are so many medications to combat it for chemo patients. I'm still praying. Love, Andrea xoxo
