We saw some Canola fields and a number of Sunflower fields on our travels this week. I was driving so there are no photos...you will have to imagine the solid intense yellow of the Canola and the pops of yellow color dotting a Sunflower field. Both made me smile.
From my archived photos..I have just a few photos of sunflowers!
Far Guy's Infusion was postponed from morning to afternoon...I picked up the walmart order, fruit from Aldi and went by the Meat Market, bank and pharmacy. My key fob stopped working at Aldi...yes stuck in the parking lot with no way to get in the car...I took the fob and whacked it against the palm of my hand a couple of times and may have said some kinda not magic words...and it finally worked. I drove straight to the car dealership and had one of the parts guys replace the battery in the fob. Usually I get some kind of notice that the fob battery is going bad...not this time.
We had corn on the cob for supper along with a small burger no bun with cheese on top and a orange to raise Far Guy's potassium. Far Guy is getting a little bit of an appetite back...progress is slow...but still progress.
It was a smoky day from the wildfires. Our high was 75 F or 24C our low was 51F or 11C eh! We did not sit outdoors.
Far Side
Glad you got the fob to work! No key in the door? A little scary!
ReplyDeleteHope you both are feeling better...
hugs
Donna
Oh my gosh, that fob problem sounds miserable!! I have no idea why they don't give out a warning when the battery is low. We were out on the motorcycle when Dan's fob went out. He had no idea why the bike wouldn't start so we had it towed to the Harley shop, only to find out it was the fob. *gawd* Your supper sounds delicious and I'm glad FG is getting somewhat of an appetite back. I didn't know there were still wildfires happening. Sometimes I live under a rock! Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteAll the fobs in my household still have a key built into them. Sometimes the bumps and buttons are super tiny to get it out of the fob but they are there somewhere to allow you to still get into your vehicle with a dead battery. As for starting the car, if you hold your fob with the dead battery up against the ignition button as you press it, it will still start.
ReplyDeleteAny progress is good news.
ReplyDeleteI went to the local farmers' market on Tuesday . They have a sunflower patch that customers can go to and cut themselves a bouquet of sunflowers...$2 a stem! It is close to the end of sunflower season here but I cut a few. It was worth the walk to the far field just to see all the butterflies. The present farmer who runs the market said his father would have been horrified to see a field of sunflowers on fertile land that could have been planted in edible crops.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Far Guy is feeling a little better.
Sorry about the key fob fiasco. How frustrating! My key fob has a hidden key that can be inserted under the door handle. I only found this out by reading the manual. Just saying you might have this feature also. RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteYes I have that feature also and will try it out in a few days when the wildfire smoke is gone outdoors. :)
DeleteI live on the East Coast, we have corn, soybeans, sorghum, a bit of wheat and we do have sunflowers but I've never seen a field of canola so I had to google to see what it looks like. It's always interesting to learn something new, so thanks!
ReplyDeleteDave just has to replace the battery in my fob.... my car kept unlocking - even when you weren't touching the fob. We thought it was the battery but it turns out one of the contacts was loose - it's handy having a guy who's good with circuits!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunflowers. There's a few sunflower fields around here - but they are fund raisers for a charity - people can come and take selfies and pick the flowers for a donation.
Glad the old "smack it" repair worked. What timing!!!!
ReplyDeleteI’ve never seen a canola field in bloom, but glad you didn’t try to get a picture. Wreck city. I’m going to google an image.
ReplyDeleteSo glad FG wants to eat a little. I often fix a hamburger Patty and pretend it’s steak. We’re supposed to get an Aldi’s. They’re working on the site. I’m going to shop there for part of my groceries when it comes. My sisters have one 20 miles away. They really like it for some things. Fruit is a better buy there.
I sure hope you guys are over a hump and have better days ahead.
We don't see sunflower fields here, but we certainly have a lot of canola fields. My favorite sight is a canola field beside a blue flax field. It's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe smoke is intense here again today. I can understand not spending time outdoors.
Glad you got the fob working - this is the first time I've owned a vehicle with a fob, one more thing to think about.
Also happy to hear that Far Guy's appetite is improving!
Canola is a brilliant yellow. we'll forgive you this time for no photo.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have canola here, but I love seeing the huge fields of them in photos. YAY for FARGUY having the tumor shrink is great news.
ReplyDeleteI've never given my FOB battery a thought. Obviously I should. Looks like your choice words were magic after all.
ReplyDeleteI am about to embark on errands. I meant to be out earlier but woke up at 4 for two hours and needed more rest before driving. You got a great lot of stuff done! So very, very thankful to hear FG's appetite returning a bit more. You are correct that he is progressing. We are retired so the slow speed is fine! Praising God with you!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a canola field, but do enjoy the sunflowers we see around here in places. Both of my key fobs have been having issues. The dealership has replaced batteries multiple times, reprogrammed them both, and updated something on my car. Luckily mine contain a hidden key inside and there is a spot to put it inside my center console. That was all news to me - until I began to have this issue. Hmmm. Hope yours stays fixed.
ReplyDeleteWe saw lots of sunflowers on our trip west. Such happy little faces following the sun. I’m glad Far Guys appetite is improving a little bit. We’ll celebrate each improvement, no matter how small or large! Sorry about the key fob. The truck fob just starts blaring the horn at 2:00 a.m. NOT fun.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
How great that after you had to be aggressive with the Fob that it worked. I need to check mine since it has been while since I checked it. I'm imagining those glorious sunflowers in their full array of beauty. Your dinner sounds so good....I love corn on the cob...
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the smoke because your temps are awesome! You have an Aldi's? You're so lucky! Glad Far Guys appetite is improving. Don't you have a car key also?
ReplyDeleteThere is a key of sorts inside the FOB. I think I have it figured out for next time.
DeleteWe don't have sunflower or canola fields here in Western Washington, but I have seen them in Colorado. I do love sunflowers.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a canola field....was that in Minnesota? Glad to hear far guy is getting better little by little...and even eating a little something too. Those darn key fobs....good grief....call you got it working again and a new battery!
ReplyDeleteYes near Mentor MN.
