Sadie is such good company except in the mornings...she likes to nap the mornings away...I guess I do too if possible.
I called her name and she lifted her head very reluctantly...how dare I disturb her morning nap. She eventually got up and turned the other way so she didn't have to look at me.
I am all done with my Doctor appointments for a bit. Everything is on the way to being normal for an old lady according to my Primary Care Doctor. Come back in six months he says:) Keep on doing the exercises and going to PT he says...alrighty then. If my left leg swells put a compression sock on it and elevate! There is no reason for it to swell...no blood clots etc...just an old lady thing. My back and leg pain will just take time a long time to return to some kind of normal.
We ended up with six medical appointments this week, five Up North and one locally. It was a week. We are safely back at home in the woods.
Far Guy has a bit more appetite now, at 132 pounds he can eat whatever he wants. He still has burning mouth, nausea and tummy troubles and other side effects from the cancer medications.
Far Side
Putting that leg up above your heart, compression stockings, and moving are pretty standard treatment for edema of a leg. I put compression stockings on hubby. They are hard to put on but do help!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it isn't a blood clot or anything.
Good that FG can eat better now. Those side effects suck.
Always enjoy the gratuitous Sadie photos!💕
ReplyDeleteOkay, everybody get back to normal now!
ReplyDeleteOh, that Sadie...what a character. Glad your appts. went well. I feel for Far Guy as I remember when I was so sick to my stomach and throwing up all the time. For me it was the pain pills and then they gave me anti-nausea pills which did nothing but finally things settled down. I have a dr. appt. today and a few new complaints! I guess this is what old age is like.
ReplyDeleteI recall Sadie being a hyper youngster. Things change. Six months before you return. Hope things are lots better for you then.
ReplyDeleteFG could blow away. Keep him out of the wind🤭. I weigh 150. As we age more and more pleasures leave us.poor FG has lost the taste for good food. Food is one of the few things I enjoy. I hope his appetite returns when this agony is over.
This sounds like a good report - - as good as one can hope to get at our age ... a PT told me back in 2004 that a doctor will tell you that surgery will fix your problem - - but he/she doesn't deal with the rehab part to know the actual time it takes to get better - - and hopefully it will be close to normal. Generally the surgery is done extremely well which in the surgeon's mind has fixed the problem even if he is not at rehab to see the baby steps of recovery. Compression and ice sure are wonderful pain relievers - - - ice can almost be addictive because it works so well.
ReplyDeleteHooray for FG regaining an appetite - - prayers for his mouth and other side effects to diminish. Also hooray for being back home for a bit.
That's a really low weight for FG. Hopefully his appetite will continue to improve. It sounds like you are on the mend, even though it takes a much longer time to do it.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's a good news/bad news situation. You're done with doctor appointments, but basically it seems he is telling you to just live with the pain. :(
ReplyDeleteAnd in Far Guy's case, the tumour is shrinking but the side effects as terrible.
Wishing you both some better days ahead.
Your blog is a good way to keep your medical records. I hope you make some rapid progress.
ReplyDeleteThose side effects sound awful. I sure hope you can get to feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteSadie.....*haha*!!! Your commentary made me LAUGH OUT LOUD, Connie. Bless that sweet dog's heart! I'm sure glad all your appointments are over for the week. *whew* That was a boat load of them!! Still praying. Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteHave any of his doctors suggested he take medication to help increase his appetite? It was just prescribed for my husband who also has cancer.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have all those appointments done and be home again. Hopefully FG's tummy troubles will get less with time, along with your pain issues. It does sound like mostly good news overall.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to Sadie’s sleepy look: sometimes I can barely keep my eyes open even after a full night’s sleep. Happy to hear that you’re working your way back to “normal.”
ReplyDeleteSadie is not into mornings. I can relate.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are both heading in the right direction. Albeit slowly.
Your Primary Care Doctor sounds very "cut and dried". No nonsense just do as I say. Hopefully that all helps although I find it next to impossible to keep my legs higher than my heart ( to help venous insufficiency ).
ReplyDeleteOh, Sadie, naps are for afternoons.......aren't they?
ReplyDeleteCan FG eat ice cream?
He likes sherbet:)
DeleteI sure hope FG finds lots of food that he can eat that will help him get his weight back.
ReplyDeleteI was just talking to a friend today that told me she has edema in her legs- I will mention compression socks to her. I hope your healing progresses quickly.
Oh my gosh...that look!
ReplyDeleteWhat a week. I am glad you are done with all those appointments! And glad the swelling doesn't have a serious reason. I hope that you both continue to heal and feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteFG needs to fatten up a little. I weight more than he does! Yikes, but keeping up the good vibes and prayers for the duration.
ReplyDeleteSadie knows what's important. Cute! I'm glad this busy medical filled week is done and things are improving. I hope Far Guy finds some food he enjoys. Cancer drugs sure do mess with a person.
ReplyDeleteLD...My heart doctor released me for two years so he must not think I at mauch of a risk anymore. My diabetic nondocotor keeps me disgusted. I miss my real doctor. I hope healing contiues everyday.
