I like the thought of hanging all the Christmas cards from a string overhead. We have a wreath display for them but sometimes it gets toppled over from time to time due to people bumping into it and it getting top heavy with cards. I guess that is a good problem to have. I love the old Christmas tree...ours was silver, growing up, with big colored bulbs. My girls like the clear lights more, and have our tree decorated nicely, but I sort of get nostalgic, and like a more old fashioned tree...Merry Christmas! Della
We used to hang tinsel on our trees in the 50's and 60's too. Not any more! I still have my Christmas cards hung on a string, but in a window. Sending wishes for a blessed Christmas to you and your extended family.
I love the tradition of Christmas cards, giving and receiving. I wish it wasn’t dying out! That truly looks like a Christmas scene from my childhood memories.
I love the photo of the old style trees...I loved tinsel and I would press each strip of it between my fingers before placing it on the tree....I think t hat's fairly anal.
I remember that tinsel! We always had it on our tree growing up and my mom insisted that it be put on one strand at a time. We put tinsel on our first tree and then never again. Neither my husband or I had the patience to put it on so that it looked nice! Merry Christmas!
Christ is the reason for the season and I wish you both a good family Christmas time at the North Pole. My brother-in-law has now been put into a nursing home after losing his wife. He doesn't know much but he does know he has a sister Della. It is a tough Christmas for you all but I wish everyone the best that you can be.
I had forgotten that we taped our cards all in a row on the wall up high. Your old photo is so memory filled of my own Christmas. Shiny, silver trees covered up our brown cedar tree.

I recall having a place to put the cards and loving the long letters we got in each card that were hand written.
