Sunday

The Scarlet Tanagers arrived Sunday morning.  They brightened up a rather gloomy day.

We had two for sure.

Far Guy hasn't been coughing...but in the afternoon he began to cough again and is short of breath.  He just cannot seem to get over this "virus" or whatever crud he has.  I think he made it four days without a cough, and just like that he is sick again.

Oh no in regards to the coughing. Hoping it is just a little cough and not a virus/cold cough. :(
The scarlet tanagers are gorgeous! I heard so much bird song out in the woods on Saturday it was like a symphony.

I'm sorry about FG's cough. The Tanagers are simply stunning. Praying for you both this morning. xo

So sad to hear Far Guy is still coughing. He is in my daily prayers. Those Scarlet Tanagers are just gorgeous. I have never seen one around my house and wish I would.

I'm not really one for forwarding medical advice, but I worry so much about you two that I'm going to break my rule. I started using Umcka Cold Care this spring and I think it actually has really helped.

Far Guy, do what you need to , to get better again. Take good care.

Oh no! Dagan and Ian have it again, too. Every time you think that your over this crud it jumps up and shows you it is not gone. So sorry that FarGuy got this awful stuff and I hope he is at the end of it.

Those are just gorgeous birds. I have never seen one in person. So many of the birds you get I've never seen. They must prefer the wonderland of your woods. ;)

What gorgeous birds! They definitely add a nice bit of color to the day. Sending prayers to Far Guy.

Wow, wow, wow! I have never seen this bird in real life. Your photos are amazing! How big are they? Like a robin in size? I wonder if we have any.

Went and looked them up. They are small, between a sparrow and a robin. And they should be in my area in the summer, I don't think I've ever seen one. I have, this year, seen a yellow bird that I didn't think was a goldfinch, but thought it might have been a yellow warbler...but now I see it might have been the female scarlet tanger.

Oh gosh! Spring and sun and warmth needs to come so Far Guy can heal.

You are certainly very watchful of him. He has a very good caretaker.

Oh my goodness, it just doesn't want to let go of him. I wish I could help but as always you are both in my thoughts and prayers. Those birds are sure bright and cheery!

No! No! No! I'm so sorry to hear that Far Guy is coughing again. I'm praying for him every day, and you too my friend.
The tanagers are beautiful birds. I don't think I've ever seen one before.
Blessings,

I'm so sorry about that coughing. It's tough on a body.
The birds are such a bright spot.

I've never seen that bird in real life. So gorgeous! You get the best birds! Allergy season is here so could that be part of Far Guy's problem? Also, you need to read that book I told you about. It is really good and they talk about a Palliative doctor to help you with BIG decisions and they tell you all the pros and cons which sometimes the 'dr.' doesn't cover. The palliative doctor talks more about what YOU want and then they tailor your treatment to that....I'm not explaining it very well but you need to read that book before you jump into any surgery or transplant....just sayin'....know what you're facing both good and bad. I know it is none of my business but so many people think they can just have surgery and everything will be fine but even if they make it through...the older you get there are some parts of you that may not recover....sometimes cognitive, sometimes kidney, mobility. You can end up with more problems...it depends on your age and how sturdy you are when you go in. If you are the least bit 'frail' it may not bode well. A palliative doctor will take your goals and give you your options...all of them....even doing nothing and tell you what your future might be like...then you can make an informed decision. I pray for you both about this.

This sounds so much like my granddaughter...she keeps getting something off and on. She is in 4th grade and makes straight A's....thank goodness. But sure has had a bad year.

I'd forgotten all about Scarlet Tanagers! Never saw one. We don't have the big variety of birds that you do - at least not here in town. There was a blue jay on the bird feeder today.

What beautiful birds! I hope they bring FG better luck, or at least some good cheer.

Oh my, I hope FG is able to overcome this bug. It sounds awful.

The Scarlet Tanagers are lovely!

Sorry about Far Guy's coughing which has returned. It must be very discouraging for him ( and for you). You're both in my thoughts and prayers.

What pretty red birds! We don't see birds like this in Oregon. Hope Far Guy feels better.

Sorry Far Guy is sick again.

That is a true red in color. I think warmer days should help some in the coughing area. My wife had a coughing spell that just would not go away. One of her heart medicine actually cause it but allergies help it out too.

So sorry to hear that Far Guy has his cough back. He just can't get a break. I will keep him in my prayers. The Scarlet Tanangers are beautiful! I'd love to lure a couple to my feeders!
