Brayer and snow

I had no idea that a little rubber ink roller was called a brayer.

Last Fall at the scrapbooking retreat one of the gals had a whole box of “stuff” that she was giving away.  My daughter Jen grabbed the little roller thingy and said “Here Mom you need this.”  She explained that it works well to ink larger stamps.

Brayer

Last week in Far Guys birthday package there were several gifts for me and a note saying  “Dad’s birthday but you got gifts.  How does that work?”  The sunflower stamp was large enough that I could try out the brayer to ink the larger stamp.  (The cling stamp gets mounted on an acrylic block prior to stamping.)  Remember my word for 2018 is explore.

So I stamped a bunch of sunflowers on water color paper and will have fun coloring them…they are in my work play box on my desk.

I did get a wild hair…looking for a particular stamp…found one and ordered it…the brayer may come in handy on that one too.  Many hours can be spent just exploring new stamps...

It snowed here…about 5 inches.  More snow is forecast.  Right now we have 9 inches at the snow stick. With more to come today.

Far Guy is getting a little stronger everyday.  Yesterday he fed the birds and walked Chance outside and then walked around and around indoors.

That is wonderful. Small things like this give us hope. I smile every time my husband is able to do part of the chores, I feel like celebrating a bit.

What an interesting little gadget. Glad Far Guy is getting better and stronger each day. We are getting all rain now. Snow is also melting so flood warnings are everywhere.

Glad to hear that Far Guy is getting stronger every day. I never heard of a brayer before you educated me. :-)

The proper tools make crafting easier: I can see how a brayer would be essential when working with larger stamps.

Good to hear that FG continues to improve.

Looks like a fast and easy way to make prints.

Glad you got a brayer! And that FarGuy is getting better. We actually got a few inches of snow, I think, last night--whoohoo! I'm happy. :) :)

Glad to hear everyone is feeling better at your house. We are supposed to have temperature over 70 today...a record high. Sounds good to me. My neighbor's Winter Aconite is blooming. Mine will bloom later. Her's gets a lot more early morning suns than mine does.

That's what I need! I was given a bunch of big stamps several years back and I need one of those! I love your sunflower and the coloring sounds like a lot of fun! So glad you are feeling better and Far Guy is getting stronger too! Good for him walking around and getting exercise in the house even.

I never even knew it had a name other than "small roller" to be honest. You learn something new every day!

Sounds like you're having fun, and I'm sure Chance is as glad as you are that Far Guy is doing so much better.

I'm jealous of all that snow.

Something new to explore with large stamps - and Far Guy and Chance has some fresh air. Hugs.

I bet Far Guy felt good getting some fresh air despite all the cold temps there. I know Chance loved having Far Guy outside with him. Love the sunflowers! I can't wait to see them after you work your magic on them! You guys just get snow on top of snow don't you? Here in northwest Missouri we had ice all day with more in the forecast. It looks like snow outside but not a drop - just all ice. We are staying in for sure.

9" doesn't seem like a lot of snow for you by this time of winter. We have snow here too, just when we thought Spring was close. Oh well, it will get here. I'm getting a kick out of your interpretation of the word 'explore'! It was a good word to pick, it just about covers everything. Glad the guys are getting our for their mutual strolls. Improvement is sooo encouraging and uplifting.

I knew the word brayer, but haven't had occasion to use it in a long time. I'm glad to hear FG and Chance are getting their walkabouts.

If you'd have asked me what a brayer was I think I would have answered 'a donkey'. Okay, enough silliness.
Great that FG is feeling better and up to a walkabout with Chance.

I taught with brayers doing block print. Kids really never could get it evenly coated and usually had too much ink on the pad, wasting things.
