Windy

Chance hides every time the wind blows and twigs start falling out of the trees.  Gale force winds 40 MPH.  Now we are in a Fire Weather Watch.

Perhaps I should do a naked rain dance…

FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR STRONG WEST WINDS... LOW HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS FOR EASTERN NORTH DAKOTA AS WELL AS NORTHWESTERN AND WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA...

Luckily we live in the Oaks…I worry about people in the pines..as they go up like huge torches.  We also have a steel roof…did ya know that embers from a fire can travel a long way…like a mile?

Sundogs at sunset

There were sundogs at sunset last evening.  We usually only see Sundogs in the winter on really cold days…the weather is really REALLY weird this year.

Chance needs a helmutt for when the twigs fall!

Naked rain dance, huh? You wild and crazy Midwesterners!
How close are the neighbors?
And what are sun dogs?

Hmmm, a naked rain dance. Sounds interesting. I'll be happy to share some of our rain with you. We had way to much last Thursday and now it's raining again. Ground is spongy to walk on. Hope you don't go up in smoke! I'l keep up a rain, rain, rain mantra for you.

The weather may be "really weird", but there is denying, that is a beautiful sunset !

Glad to know you aren't in as much danger from that fire weather as others. I'm just hoping this weather is not the new normal. Great sundog shot, though. :-)

I'd check around before you do the naked rain dance, okay? Might be a little embarrassing, my friend. Great picture of the sun dogs.

Praying you will be okay. Maybe some of our rain will make it up there. Have a blessed week.

Neighbors are far away, I can see the lights of my nephews house in the winter through the trees. I could do my yard work naked and no one would notice!
Sun dogs are "little" suns on both sides of the sun cause by reflection of water crystals or ice crystals in the air. That is a Sundog in the left in my photo the look like little rainbows.

I've wondered about how far an ember could make it :-/.

The thoughts of you doing a naked rain dance made me chuckle:) We saw a sun dog the other day, which was sort of odd. Wish I could send you some moisture.

It's been very windy here for a week. I'll tell you when the wind lets up here and you can be prepared for less wind. I hope no fires start in your area.

Huge winds predicted for us also. AND we also saw sundogs! Everything is so strange weather wise.

Yes indeed you are getting the windy weather we had this weekend and today is lovely but it continues to be DRY! We had yet another fire west of me Friday - another idiot that didn't make sure their "controlled burn" was completely out. Sigh....summer is going to be long I'm afraid.

Cool photo of the sundogs. Fingers crossed the winds behave and no fires happen.

Beautiful sun dogs, and an odd time of year to see them.

A metal roof is a wonderful idea, especially at fire time. We live in the firs....and as much as I love them, they worry the heck out of me in August. But some silly ah...neighbors will always have a fire pit going.

Your sun dog is gorgeous.

I can only hope that fires don't get started with that dangerous environment.

Great colors in the sky. I keep picking up sticks as the wind just keeps blowing. Missed a major storm this morning buy a few miles.

Very frightening about the wind and fire hazard. I have only seen a sun dog once - truly gorgeous.

I didn't know that about the flying embers, until the forest service put up a billboard explaining that, a while back. We have horrible fire risks at the end of the summer around here.

This is going to be a very, scary year. So many places are already so dry.

Brown winter. Dry spring instead of our usual sloppy spring with mud and puddles. Yes, a weird year.

Really, you're so right, I've only seen sun dogs in the winter on really cold, sunny days up North. i see my neighbor out in his yard peeing a lot but you won't catch me doing that...I hope!
