It is said that there are two seasons in Minnesota. Winter and Road Construction.
Road Construction is beginning.
This is a stretch of highway where those that want to pass can IF nothing is coming. Many people have lost their lives along this stretch of road…yet other areas somehow made the top of the list before this project. This million dollar project begins next week. There are more stretches of passing lanes to come along this road each at a million dollars. We will take the back roads the rest of the summer…what a traffic backed up snarly mess this will be.
They ripped up the right of way on both sides of the highway. Yesterday they were spreading that foamy green stuff in some areas…not sure why?
It is kinda pretty….like Easter basket grass.
Far Guy saw the Pulmonary Specialist yesterday. She really took her time and went through everything with a fine tooth comb. The Specialist says that there are two medications that might make a difference. One is a pill that he would take everyday if his stomach will tolerate it, the other is an injection. The big thing is to keep him well and out of the triggers = perfume, after shave, smoke, dust, pollen and away from germy people. He should continue his walks and eat healthy. He is still Stage Four COPD, but not too much worse than he was 10 months ago. She said she will try her best to keep him away from deaths door for a number of years. I think she will be easy to work with, Far Guy seemed very impressed with her…and it didn’t hurt that she graduated from UND…Go Sioux!
Enjoy your summer taking all those "back roads". Great photo opportunities can be found on those back roads !!
Thankful that the Dr. was thorough and likeable; that's important. I know it's difficult to stay clear of all the triggers for FG. I hope he can tolerate the meds and that they will be most helpful.
We noticed yesterday that every road we drove down had huge pot holes and I think I hit every one!
God bless you both this weekend.
We love taking our back country roads pot holes and all and only use a highway if we really have to ! I do hope Far Guy finds some relief to his illness ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good day !
Sounds like you have found a helpful, caring doctor. I'm glad.
Ah, yes, road work is definitely under way in Minnesota! Well, at least it's a lot shorter season than winter. :-)
So glad FG got some good news.
She sounds like a caring doc and that always hleps. My middle name is short cuts and back roads..I will go ten miles out of my way to avoid a busy highway or interstate. Y'all have a great weekend!
Those country roadsides are so pretty. There's nothing like having a good doctor. A doctor who actually wants to help you and keep you well.
Hey, we have the same two seasons here. Only difference is our construction is now year round. I am with you about taking the back roads during construction. Glad Far Guy finally found a caring doctor. And I'm thrilled she wants to keep him alive - that is always a good thing. Have a great weekend.
We are just lucky with all around traffic/construction.
May Far Guy hold steady.
Thank heavens for that new doctor. I am now feeling pretty reassured that he'll make it a little longer. My brother-in-law died of COPD at 67, but he never stopped smoking, right up to the end. Sigh.
I hope Far Guy in good hands - it sounds very promising!
Looks like the green spray is a hydroseeding slurry. Thank goodness for the right doctor? Hope the meds help Far Guy.
Oh gosh! A stupid question mark in the wrong place. There is no question that a good doctor is appreciated.
It's nearly impossible to avoid those common triggers, so I wish Far Guy the best. Sounds like the new doctor is a winner.
yeah - good (no great) Doctors are such a blessing. Hope she some options that provide some relief. And boo to the road construction - summer travel!
When the weather turns nice, the road construction always begins. And sometimes they can be downright dangerous when the flagman is just over a hill and you haven't had much warning ahead of time to slow down. Usually they have signs out, but yesterday I came upon one that didn't. I got stopped in time, but I wanted to give them a lecture on placing those signs correctly!
I hope your hubby gets along well with the new medication. It helps so much to have a doctor you like and trust.
The new doctor sounds great! What a huge difference a 'good' doctor makes.
Oh yeah, road construction season here too:( We are fascinated by a project that we hit on the way to Oliver. A sharp bend in the highway, where it turns round the mountain to go over a creek. The powers that be have decided to fix that corner. The amount of fill that will have to go into that ravine is unfathomable, and it looks like they are filling it rather than bridging it.
I did not know of Far Guy's COPD. I am so concerned about him. So sorry he has that plus the terrible TN. God bless him and you.
Road repair season is really bad in the Twin Cities. Every spring and summer orange cones everywhere.
Please you two take good care of each other. I know you will.
God bless a caring Doc. 'Will continue tossin' big old prayers your way sweetie!
Have a wonderfully blessed weekend!!! :o)
I am glad Far Guy is doing better. He just has to be in a guarded lifestyle to keep it under control. We are on year 16 with my wife's CHF and she really has to just behave. She does catch things that just don't want to go away but weeks later it does. Take care Far Guy. If you see any women with lots of make up on steer away as they usually want to smell better as well as look better.
We have the same road construction summers. I wish Far Guy all the best in his health.
First signs of summer ;)
...but didn't you just have snow last week???
A doctor you can talk to is always a good start. And does the county still allow "rescues" of showy ladyslippers during road constructions. If so I'll be up....:)
They marked and removed a bunch last fall, there were flags all over and then people came and dug them up. I am not sure where they went. I think I know who I can ask.
Yes, the second season has arrived. I wonder what all that foamy stuff is actually for?
Glad to hear FarGuy is holding his own. I'm sure he'll miss being able to go wherever he wants to. Better to be cautious, though. Liking your doctor is a huge plus! Have a nice quiet weekend. :)
Here, when they spray that green stuff, it is full of grass seedings. It is nice FarGuy is coming along, my prayers are for him to get much better.
