Linda is closing

My favorite Antique Shop is closing.  The place where I could wander around for hours in the winter.  The place where I stopped to buy old photos. She has had it. She is finished with the antique business.

I went to school with Linda.  From first grade through graduation from high school.

I like all Linda’s signs.  I suppose she has taken them all down by now. I would walk around snapping pictures of all her signs..she would just smile and say “Knock yourself out.”   She is closing “for good” June 20.

She told me that she is becoming a waitress for her son who opened a new restaurant someplace over by Duluth. So she is moving and taking a new direction in her life..I wonder when she turns 60?  Perhaps she already did.

I will miss her shop, her wry sense of humor and I will miss Linda too:)

Just from your words, I know I would have liked her, too.

Good wishes for her in her new life adventure.

Things change, people get tired of doing the same things all their lives. I don't think becoming a waitress is my idea of a good life, though. :-)

Hope she enjoys her new career, but it's always said to see a good business go.
There was the best antique bookstore not too far from me. I loved to wander through it for hours. And, before the days of ebay, she used to call me whenever she got a Sewell illustrated edition of the Little House books because I was collecting them. Then she decided to retire and no one wanted to buy her out...so she closed. I really miss her.

We will do just about anything for our kids, won't we? So what will happen to all her 'stuff'? Has she sold the business or is it out of her home so there is no building to sell - - or maybe she rented it? But all the merchandise . . . . . did she want to give some to the museum?!! My daughters love antique stores for the old jewelry. They take it apart and create earrings or new bracelets.

I would hate to be a waitress at 60...but that is because I did it for several years when younger. I wish her luck and great adventures.

Sounds like a place I'd have frequented! I love the signs.

I can see how the two of you would be friends. I'll bet you'd love to put up signs like that in the museum! :-)

I waitressed when I was younger and loved it. But at 60, I don't think my body would love it much--LOL! It's hard work. But if she loves people, she'll really like it.

Sad to have people move away, tho. Sometimes people need a change--a new start. I hope you get all the postcards you can before she shuts down the shop! ;)

What a bummer for sure. But you got the lost keys. I think I lose my keys twice a week. :)

Best wishes to her in her new venture!

So sad to see a business close. In her own shop she could sit down once in a while. Being on your feet all day is no fun. But nayve "son" will give Mom a break on that.

That is unfortunate. Antique stores are as important as museums in some ways.
I hope she will be happy as a waitress.

I hate it when one of my favorite stores closes down. You just can't replace a locally owned business.

Yes, it is fun to go there and just look - I know she's ready for a change. Good luck to her, and I love the picture of her.

Oh, what a brave step to take! Such a shame to see a one-woman business close down though.

I love her signs. I wish her luck helping her son. Waitressing is not an easy task, hope she gets preferential hours.

Oh, I so hate to lose favorite stores, particularly ones with neat stuff. Some of my favorite antique shops and pawn stores should really have museum status. Good luck to Linda!

sorry to see your friend close her shop and move. I guess she'll turn 60 about the same year you do, give or take a year. :-)))

I missed seeing your SS posts!!!
