26

Maddie our middle Granddaughter is 26 today!  I was privileged to be present at her birth and cut the umbilical cord.   I then went with her to the nursery.  One time she asked me if she could have been switched at birth...I said " No way, I was with you from the time you were born until you were safely with your Mom."

Maddie and Chance in 2009. Maddie was 11 years old back then. She and Chance were best friends.

Here she is with her husband Brenton.
Maddie is a busy Mom working full time and taking care of three children.

Happy Birthday Maddie!  Love you now and forever!

Birthdays

Today our oldest daughter Trica is 50.   Hard to believe that she is that old.

I believe this photo was taken in 2006.  Savannah, Trica, Paige, My Dad and Maddie.

Maddie's birthday was yesterday!  Maddie was 24 years old.  We visited her via facetime, she likes her new job.  Fun to get caught up with her.

Maddie and Chance...2008 I think.  The walking stick she is holding is a Diamond Willow Branch that Far Guy debarked and made into a walking stick...one for each of our Grands....he uses a wood burning tool to engrave their names on the walking sticks.

It was a fun afternoon, it is wonderful to see them all dressed up ready for a night out!  It was a good thing prom was last weekend, this weekend they would have to wear parkas…it sleeted yesterday and was barely 40F or 4C eh…and windy.

Scrapbooking Retreat

I am getting ready to go to a scrapbooking retreat with both of our daughters.  I have not been to a retreat weekend for a number of years. I used to go twice a year, it was a time to catch up and relax and just giggle most of the weekend.  Jen and I have gone to retreats all over in North Dakota and Minnesota.  Trica has never been able to attend until this year..so it should be fun!

It will take me all week to get organized.  Deciding which scrapbook I wanted to work on was the hardest.    I have one completed scrapbook..it is mine from birth (1951) to engagement (1969).  My second scrapbook takes off with our wedding in 1969 and is stalled in the year 1974. My Third scrapbook I started with 2005 and it is stalled in 2007…that is the one that I will concentrate on this time around.   A few years ago I completed scrapbooks of both the girls School Years from K through Graduation, it was quite a project.

Well in my hunt for some organization to this scrapbooking madness, I found this tucked away in my scrapbook desk..

Internet Copy Madison

This must have been from 2007, when Madison was in third grade.  It will go in the scrapbook.  I am still looking for a photo from around that time..I can find one from the year before..

Maddie and Chance

I still have a whole week to get ready and to become more organized.  I like to have all my paper and photos and embellishments all picked out and ready to just create pages. I have been known to spend a day just picking out the paper that I will take along.  They have wifi there..so I will still be able to write everyday..I hope the weather is warm so I can sit on the dock and put my feet in the water.

I will only be about 35 miles from home.. Chance will have to be in charge of Far Guy. I may even come back home to sleep one night, I will be the oldest person there..all the rest of the gals are young things who can scrapbook endlessly without sleeping:)

Chance : Playing Ball With Lefty

Hello! It is I Chance the wonder dog, I get to guest blog again today! We went to the "city" for Easter, Far Side has "city" rules, they are different from country rules. She says " Blah Blah traffic Blah Blah Listen Blah Blah play ball Blah Blah Listen" the other rule is less complicated... "Pee before going in the house" I always try to get by with this one, as I run wildly toward the door, I am so anxious to see my girls. Far Side says "Chance, Come" .. so I do.. she points and says "Pee" and I do. Anything to get into that house. I love my girls, you know they lived with me for ten months, and I got to see them every day!

Ah, the girls, they are giggly heaven, they call me Chancey...they like my kisses. Sometimes they let me wash their entire face..one is starting to wear makeup..so she tastes a little funny. After all the kissing..it is time to find a ball. I do and I know I can get Maddie to play ball, IF Maddie can convince Far Side that we can be allowed to go outside together. Far Side says "NO, not now, he must be supervised." OVERPROTECTIVE isn't she? Finally we get to go out. More rules...pay attention.. there are German Shepherd dogs across the street in their yard barking..should I go over and say Hi? Far Side says "No" She is SO bossy. " Get back here and play ball or you will go inside." I love to play ball..and it is allowed as long as I pay attention, and mind. I am such a good boy.

Maddie has quite an arm! The wind up...
The pitch..yes she is a lefty...but I don't mind

Off like a flash..
I always bring the ball back
Aren't I handsome running with a ball in my mouth!

We can't play ball for a real long time in the city..because they have an Ass-Fault drive, which is way different for my sensitive country, dirt road and grass pads on the bottom of my feet. I am a Border Collie, I like to "herd" but I am very ball driven. One time in Nebraska Far Side was not paying attention until I began to limp..by then I had ripped up my pads something painful..but I still wanted to play ball. It took a whole week for my pads to heal. So I guess it is a good thing I have Far Side and Far Guy to watch out for my feet. On the way home, Far Side said "Chance you did real good, but we need to work some more on your off leash skills, she wants me to be perfect all the time." Far Guy is a push over.. he just says "Get back here, and good boy." I guess I was a little wild during the Easter Egg hunt..running willy nilly trying to help the girls who were also running willy nilly to find hidden eggs..three girls and only one of me..that was quite a challenge for a Border Collie that wants to herd children:)

All photos taken with the HP now busted camera.
