Spring into Winter

Yesterday after Far Guy's infusion we left our daughter's home and ventured back to our home in the woods.

The further South we got the more snow we encountered.  It is NOT an April Fool's joke either.

They got about eight inches of snow a few days ago.

What a wintery welcome.   Everything was fine at home, so far anyway. We have hot water, cold water and the septic system seems to be working...all good things after our time away.  Anna our snow shoveler removed snow for us!  My other baby brother and she who sees robins first helped us unload the car...everything will be put away eventually.

Good to be home...but it is quiet.

Son In Law Andy got sad news;  His youngest sister was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer yesterday and her Thyroid Gland was removed, she has two little girls ages 4 and 5 that are spending some time with Andy and Jen. ( When we left the house was full of giggles, running and playing.)  Andy's Father Bob started Hospice this week, his Myelofibrosis has turned into Leukemia.  Prayers are appreciated.

My Dad was admitted to a Nursing Care Facility yesterday about a one hour drive away.

Snow again

It seems the winter storms are back to back.

This is our patio, a photo I took when we were back home.  It is the most snow we have seen in many years.

If I had put the snow stick up it would be totally covered.

Back home they are getting another blizzard Monday and Tuesday.  That one will miss us...but then we had bad weather up here on Saturday and Sunday.

We took care of Sadie while Andy and Jen went to a movie.  Sadie and I had a nice nap!  I made Naan bread pizza for supper.  In the evening we played Hand and Foot and they finally let me win.

Far Guy facetimed with his sister again yesterday, she was a bit more alert than the day before.  Brother In Law Ron felt a bit better too as he was finally able to get some sleep.   Ron, their daughter Bethany and son in law RJ are all taking turns caring for Jan at home.

One Month

One month closer to spring and summer...and flowers.

My baby brother sent me this photo.

See the bird feeders on the cable in the back?  That is his answer to squirrel and bear problems....sure hope it works.  He has some kind of a pulley system worked out to lower the feeders to fill them. Looks like he has plenty of snow.

We are braced for some rain yes they said rain, snow and winds...but then it is always windy here.  I never leave the house without a hat.

Goodbye January hello February!

Blizzard

We are in a blizzard warning..it started to snow around noon. Roads to the big cities are closed..schools were smart enough to close before the snow began. We got a phone call from the lobotomized backwoods guy..he found several other things wrong with my computer..the DVD and CD drives..and a sensor..Far Guy says "Well we could have had a power interruption or spike to cause your computer to crash like a woodpile..one part fails and takes out another part."
I am still spring cleaning the kitchen, I am making progress between naps. Contrary to what Far Guy says, I do know where the pots and pans are..I just do not care to use them. I spent a couple of hours just in the junk drawer..sorting..throwing..rewritting recipes. I had a bunch of batteries.. Far Guy takes them out of the package and dumps them in the drawer, IF I were in charge of them I would mark them with a Sharpie with the date. He doesn't think that is necessary..so he is the official battery tester.

Hey Far Guy ..are these batteries any good?

He replies..I don't know test them. He sighs gets up from HIS computer and comes over and tests them on his tongue. He sorts them..no good, no good..yup this one is good, really good. He explains to me yet again that I can test them for myself..it is kinda like cooking..why should I do it when he is perfectly happy to do it for me. Just like he was perfectly happy to clean the oven the other day..he turned it on to clean and then we both scrubbed the oven racks until they looked just like brand new. So what if he got stuck with the worst one..he is the one that cooks all the time and cooks stuff over.
I am trying my best not to move too much stuff around in the cupboards, nothing worse than a confused cook:)
