Far Guy has a really bad COPD exacerbation. He was evaluated at the ER. Our niece Stacey was on duty so he got excellent care! They gave him IV steroids, a nebulizer treatment and fluids. His blood work and x rays looked reasonably good. He could have stayed in the hospital for observation but he preferred to come back home...even if the night nurse is cranky. He was started on a course of antibiotics and steroids. Of course he will do nebulizer treatments often, rest in the recliner or bed and do what ever I say! His Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency makes him very prone to breathing problems.
I hope we do not have to go back to the hospital. Time will tell.
A nearby creek where we always look for Marsh Marigolds...they should be blooming soon.
It rained.

Sending prayers he feels better soon, and that the cranky's go away for you.
ReplyDeleteHoping nothing but the best for Far Guy!
ReplyDeleteKeeping you both in my prayers. Hopefully the meds will do their job well.
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry for all the stuff you all deal with! We breathe in air without thinking of those who smother trying to just get a little air!😢
ReplyDeletePraying for you both for strength on your journey!!
ReplyDeleteNow, go eat a chocolate bar...lol
big hug

I wish Far Guy a speedy recovery ad the night nurse some rest.
ReplyDeletePrayers for your sweet husband and you, too, of course. FG has two great nurses - - his niece and you! You know his condition better than anyone and know the best treatment for him. So thankful you know when he needs extra medical attention - - and hopefully he will Not need to go back into the hospital - - especially when it is starting to get pretty outside weather for you.
ReplyDeletePrayers for FG. I know that the blooming season makes it difficult for him. I do see some green at the creek, so hopefully the little flowers will be out soon,
ReplyDeleteHope he feels better.
ReplyDeleteI do hope his breathing improves. It must be so worrisome for both of you when he has COPD episodes like this.
ReplyDeleteWe had rain last night too, not the s word...I was thrilled to say the least.
Hopefully FG feels a bit better and there will be no need to go back to the ER.
ReplyDeleteI hope the rain was enough to help.
Prayers for a speedy recovery. I am glad you have an "in" at the ER to make sure he gets the BEST care! I am sure he is resting better at home. Getting him in quickly and getting him what is needs sure seems like the way to stay a little ahead of all this. Sorry you guys are going through this.
ReplyDeleteSince the night nurse is dealing with her own issues, I can see where she might be cranky. Between the two of you you certainly have you hands full.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteHoping the hospital treatment and what he will have at home does the job and quickly.
ReplyDeletePraying for a quick recovery and hopefully you both get lots of rest. Spring always brings respiratory problems for me so I feel for farguy!
ReplyDeletePraying for far guy and that won't have to go to the hospital. Praying for you too, dear nurse!!!
ReplyDeletePrayers for you both. I hope Far Guy is much better soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm so late getting here that I know FarGuy is holding his own and doing better. Prayers for you both!! Nurses need prayers, too.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that. Exacerbations suck big time. LOL..as the night nurse, I get very cranky. But with rest I can un-crank.
