Far Guys visit with the dietician was helpful...he needs to eat more protein many times a day. She suggested that he eat 5 or 6 times a day.
My Rheumatologist had no suggestions or solutions for me...as I suspected. He said he hoped I could see the Neurosurgeon before May 30. Well me too! Since we have good insurance he wants to see me again in three months.
The new recliner that we ordered a few weeks ago was delivered...it has heat and massage and is very comfortable.
Far Guy went to the garage today and uncovered his old car Tilly. He must be thinking of Summer.
I did some laundry and odds and ends and crocheted some baby booties. I think I need to crochet more before my hands give out with the RA. I plan to make a number of blankets, one is in progress but I got distracted by the baby booties.
Far Side
As they say, growing old ain't for sissies! It's always something.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun to go for a ride!

I need to crochet some baby booties too. I haven't made any since I quit doing craft shows. I didn't sell them very often at the shows, but sold a lot online. It is nice to gift them along with a blanket too. Sounds like you two are coming along nicely with doctor updates/visits. Hopefully you got some good ideas for protein meals.
ReplyDeleteWell hopefully it's many years before those hands give out. I like FG's optimism that it's time to get Tilly out of the garage. I think real spring has arrived here.
ReplyDeleteGood idea to make up a supply of baby gifts. They will go to those other great grands that are not even a thought today.
ReplyDeleteI hope that recliner can be of some help to you. I'm sorry they can't seem to get their act together for you.
ReplyDeleteMy late mother had to give up sewing and crocheting due to RA when I was young and before she could teach me those arts. I learned crocheting from a friend but never sewing. RA is a terrible disorder.
ReplyDeleteSpring is here when the old car gets dusted off.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your hands are getting cranky. Mine are cranky if I try to crochet but I can still paint. I have a friend who still crochets although she is 90. She has arthritis in her hands, too. She says she stops every 15 or 20 minutes and does finger and hand exercises.
ReplyDeletewhen i was on that liquid diet I took Boost to get nutrition and protein. I also ate a lot of roasted turkey lunch meat. I still get it and put it in my potato soup. Older people need lots of protein. I can't believe they can't find an RA medicine that works for you. I am so sorry. I had it so bad at first and they had me on strong steroids for awhile and I looked like the incredible hulk! Now, I take a small dose of steroid with hydroxychloroquine and that has worked for me for years now. Before that I was on Enbrel for years and almost went broke! I pray they find something that works for you and stops the joint damage. My hands look awful but they still work and I am not in any pain.
ReplyDeleteI bet the baby booties are cute! Hang in there!
Your new recliner sounds wonderful..That heat should really feel good for you and your RA. and I hope it makes you feel relaxed.
ReplyDeleteFar Guy has some catching up to do with his meals.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping you get your appointment with the neurosurgeon soon, and the new recliner helps relieve some of your pain. Does warmer weather help at all?
Sometimes a small project is a nice distraction from the larger ones.
I hope you love the new recliner! Sounds like a good spot to work on blankets and booties.
ReplyDeleteHopefully eating more small meals every day will help FarGuy put on a little weight and feel better. Glad to hear he's out with Tilly. :)
That recliner sounds like the ticket, all right. That and getting to see the doctor sooner rather than later. I'm so glad to hear that Tilly is being dusted off for summer!
ReplyDeleteThe recliner sounds great. Sorry you're having to deal with the health issues.
ReplyDeleteThe new recliner sounds awesome, I think I would just sleep in it too!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the recliner is working for you. And I'm glad to hear FG is dusting off Tilly.
ReplyDeleteI hope you both get many good drives in Tilly this summer
ReplyDeleteAs a vegetarian I have trouble getting enough protein. Greek yogurt is one food I can usually eat and it's quite high in protein.
ReplyDeleteI've never gotten much new info from dietician visits. Glad they were helpful for at least your hubby. You might need to get another recliner!
