Books and other "stuff"

I finally made a list of the books that I have in the house to read.  I am only 52 books behind....but at least I know which books I have hidden away...just in case.  I had to order a few books for upcoming book club books.  That is what prompted the making of the list.

We took it easy on Tuesday...because Monday was a busy day.  We made Jambalaya, salad and flat bread for supper guests.  Far Guy was the cook and I was the sous chef/dishwasher/bread baker.  Teamwork!  Tuesday morning we both said we are getting too old for cooking.  However Jambalaya freezes well and we froze some up for the summer...it will make a great side dish or main dish with a salad and fruit for the summer days we don't want to cook.  Far Guy follows the Cajun Ninja recipe for Jambalaya on You Tube.

The flat bread was really good and made the whole house smell great!  No it is not perfectly formed but it tasted perfectly great!

Supper on Tuesday was chicken thighs with skin removed in the crock pot with pineapple juice and soy sauce...salad and peaches. Easy cooking!

I have had a post it note floating around my desk space for a bit...it says...

  2. FB. It is there but no longer something I enjoy very much. I keep it only to stay up to date with the folks in our gym.

  3. Ha, I should probably make a book list too. I can easily get distracted with a new title I spot somewhere and then soon I have a few more books on my shelf. I do have a few bags of books I have read this year, that are ready to pass on to a kiddo. Your flatbread looks pretty good.

  5. Only 52 books behind!? I'm probably a few hundred behind at this point. I could probably go the rest of my life without going outside my house for another book but I doubt that will happen.

  6. That quote sure gave me a chuckle. Glad to hear you two are still cooking, even if not very often. I don't hardly do any myself these days.

  7. I really like jambalaya but have never made it. You've given me something to try, The flatbread looks delicious. I like that quote! I still have an account on FB but stopped using it years ago.

  8. That quote is so accurate and so funny. I'm sick of cooking. My husband is such a picky eater that it isn't fun to try out recipes because he won't even taste most things.

  9. I'm enjoying living with my daughter AS we share cooking duties. When I'm with my son, I tend to do most of it. And when I'm by myself I tend to cook enough one day to feed me for a couple more.
With 52 books, you could read one a week for a year..That is as long as you didn't add any more to the list.

  11. I laughed so hard at the post-note saying that I choked. LOL! I've never tried making flat bread, but yours looks so delicious I may have to look into trying to do that. I have hidden books - well, not hidden anymore since I pulled them out of the closet to see what was in the box - and have a couple I'm going to reread soon. I'm a speed reader, so I'll be done in ten minutes. Ha! Have a blessed weekend!

  14. Love the quote. Meanwhile the fact you are 52 books behind makes me feel so much better about my many, many stacks. I am not up to counting them though.

  15. Some great food here and that flat bread looks amazing. 52 books? It would take me forever to read this many books...I'm a slow reader and sometimes I have to go back and re-read.

  20. I have just found your blog and your essay. Loved both. Am in awe of your talent and resilience and joy in life. Also, interested in your teaching, as I have a grandkid who is just completing a BA in environmental science at McGill, and, of course, I wonder what she can and will do with it.
