Sunday activity

Lazy day but we managed to make a trip to recycle.  Baxter came to visit because his people were having a gathering for my baby brothers 50th Class reunion and Baxter would have been a pain in the butt.

Baxter was not thrilled, but he did not whine.  I had a nap while he laid on the step looking out the window.  Then we sat outside and woodcarved...he liked that better.  We found out he likes watermelon and I am not allowed to go into the bathroom alone.

Relax Baxter you are just visiting!  He was very happy to see my baby brother had not forgotten him!  Baxter has recovered from his surgery, he can have crackers again as a treat.

We juiced chokecherries in the afternoon.  Got 19 cups of juice for my other baby brother and she who sees robins first.  They picked berries on Sunday morning.

The stainless steel juicer/steamer has three compartments, the bottom is for water, the middle is the juice catch basin with the hose ( the catch basin has a funnel in the center for the steam to rise up from the bottom part) and the top part is the part with small holes where the berries are placed to steam.  It is one of the best things ever!

Glad Baxter came over for a visit - nice change of pace. Your juicer/steamer looks like the ideal appliance for canning.

What a neat gizmo for the juice, Connie. And Baxter looks wary of the camera. *lol* ~Andrea xoxo

Baxter has certainly grown up! He's big boy now! Your juicing machine is amazing...sort of like a "still".

I have one of those juicers. Mine isn't fancy as it's aluminum. I've had it since the 1970's so it's juiced and awful lof of berries.

Baxter is too handsome!

Baxter sure knows who his people are. I laughed at the thought of him following you to the bathroom.
That's quite the contraption. I recall my mom using cheese cloth over a bowl to catch the juice from various berries. Things have changed!

Was Baxter sick? Or was it 'that' surgery?

OH! I went back and read about Baxter's surgery. I'm glad he is much, much better.

Nice juicer! I certainly could have used that when I was canning.

The stainless steel juicer looks like quite the efficient apparatus. Sounds like it works great.

My sister has a juicer for all of the juice and jelly she has made over the years. I haven't done enough jelly making to warrant one.
Dogs are funny. They become so attached to their person.

I'm impressed that you can get that mush juice out of choke cherries. The ones that used to grow in Michigan were so small. OR you had a LOT of them to juice. Still, I wonder what it tastes like. We never ate them because the pits were as big as the fruit! ( our neighbor had a huge tree we would climb in as kids. )
