Fall is coming on strong. The night time temperatures are in the 50's F and leaves and acorns are falling out of the trees. The Chokecherries left on the Chokecherry shrubs/small trees are starting to dry up. It was a really good year for chokecherries and some locals are selling them for $4 a pound.
The juicer came in handy this chokecherry season...I believe over 100 cups of juice was made that will make jelly or syrup. I know my freezer has enough juice to keep me busy for a couple of days this Fall.
The Ratibida pinnata or Mexican Hat is in bloom. It self seeds itself every year.
The tomato crop is still good. Far Guy took some in to his favorite Infusion Nurses yesterday.
We had a good visit with Far Guy's cousins yesterday; Bonnie, Wayne, Jay and Janette.

Same here with the feel of Autumn in the air and sunlight changes. Cool evenings and mornings are wonderful. A few more dead leaves on the ground since we had a bad windstorm a few days ago.
Fall is moving in it seems. Nighttime lows are now in the 40s, and the morning and evening air has the distinctive smell of Fall.

We're still getting the heat of the day, but like you the nights are cooling off considerably. I open the windows and leave the fans on and by morning the house (almost) feels chilly.
My tomato plants are starting to turn yellow and brown, so it won't be long before I harvest the rest of the fruit.

Hello from E.Ontario. We noticed patches of color in the maples up the mountain that wasn't there last week when we were by.
Fall isn't quite here yet but our turtlehead flowers are showing olor and should be opening any day now. I know, fall is only a matter of time, as farm stands sell local prune plums an the first winter squash. I have never had chokecherry juice.
Galla Creek, No Mexican hat is different from a Black eyed Susan. The drooping petals are indicative of Mexican Hat.
I'm not familiar with the Mexican Hat flower. I googled it and now I'll have to see if it survives our wet winters.
Your trees are turning now already too. We are cooler but not as cold as you. We need rain. The jelly making will be easier with all the juicing done already.
Whether we know it or not, summer is just about done. the Saskatoons have dried up here. I was going to eat some off a tree when I found out they were dry.

Autumn doesn't start here that early. August/September summer just kind of dries up until the September rains come.
We've been having the 50's at night too with glorious foggy mornings.
It looks like my son will visit this weekend with his fiancé and they will be bringing veggies from their awesome garden!

Love your pictures! It always seems to me that Autumn should begin on September 1st. We went out for dinner to celebrate hubby's birthday tonight...it was delicious. I can't get over how early it's getting dark nowadays.....had to drive back in the dark watching out for deer all the while.
I've never heard yellow coneflowers called Mexican Hats. I seeded some last year & bought a couple 3 year sized plants on sale this year. Hoping to see some flower, some day!!
