First Snow

Well we have our first snow.  It turned really cold.  I had to get out a heavy Fall coat, my snow boots, a hat and gloves.

First snow Oct 26 and 27

I think the little pansies that have been so cheerful all week might have died.

I had a list of “stuff” I needed so we waited until afternoon to go to town, the roads were good by then.

snowy chairs

No sitting in the chairs for a few days.

This snow will melt.

We made comfort food for supper…a pork roast with roasted carrots mashed potatoes and gravy.

Far Guy is still struggling with his bronchial infection, the Pulmonary Doctor has been advised and says if there is no improvement by Monday a different antibiotic will be started.

Sorry to hear that FG is still struggling. Your meal sounds very tasty for a cold evening. Hard to imagine snow this time of the year for this Southern gal! You two take care this weekend and feel better.

We're in Houston, TX now. Spent last summer in western WY (Yes, I'm a MN graduate, having grown up in White Bear Lake). Sept. 14, the weather switched in WY, with cold and snow. Sorry, don't miss it a bit.

The snow looks about the same down here in the cities. I pulled the shades and drapes and ignored it. It was definitely a comfort food kinda day! Sending good wishes along to Nice Guy hoping he feels better.

Yes, it's cold here and I got the plants and herbs in just in time....it frosted last night. I'll be making soup today ...your dinner sounded great. I haven't had a pork roast in awhile....maybe because it was too warm? It isn't warm anymore although, like you...it will warm up again before the 'real' winter sets in.

It is pretty and the first snow was always An Event in my family accompanied by a peach pie from peaches we had frozen in the summer. I'll just enjoy your photos though. I don't need to see anymore snow in person!

That is a turning point, when you get your first snow, even though it's not going to stay. Another new header, this one with snow in every picture. Comfort food is what I needed last night, too, but I didn't have anything or anybody to make it for me. Hope FG gets better this weekend.

Looks like a good day to stay inside by the fire. I bet you're glad you and FG were able to get all the yard work completed before the storm hit.

As a kid I would be jealous of the snow. I have grown up now. I didn't think I would become so anti-cold but I am. Snow does shut down the outside responsibilities except for shoveling. I still have two yards to mow and they are overdue. I am sure you will be glad when some of that stuff melts away.

Back when I lived in snow we had pansies who always survived the first snow. Maybe you will get lucky.

Well, shivering pansies! But I see that you did not get the 10 inches they did elsewhere. Comfort food is always a good idea for a cold, snowy day.

Well, I'd say that looks like enough snow to make it official. Still, hope you get a break before the "real" winter sets in!

Pansies are hardy. Snow...I. AM. SO. NOT. Ready. Today is lovely here, but cold. Still blue skies...I'll take it! Sunshine anytime.
