Colorful

My husband is very supportive of my “art.”

Prismacolor pencils

This was part of my birthday gift. Prismacolor pencils in every shade you can imagine.

My first thought was “They are too pretty to use.”  Silly me… of course I will use them!  I have an older set of 24 that I absolutely love!

Making a mess on my desk

My hand/arm is still giving me fits, it swells and has a burning pain in two spots.  A bit of coloring is good therapy. I cannot do it for too long but at least I feel like I am accomplishing something.

Far Guy is helping me stamp the Christmas Cards, I cannot stamp anything yet.  I hope in another week I see great improvement so I can go to the Craft Retreat pain free.

Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes yesterday!

I had no idea such colored pencils existed! They are lovely and you have a treasure load of them thanks to Far Guy. I hope your arm and hand will recover completely very soon so you can use them.

Wow, what a rainbow of color. I buy mine one by one and have about 15 because they are expensive. Love them. Mine are the watercolor ones.
So sorry your hand is still so painful. I hope you have some good books read and rest it often.

Keeping you in my prayers. You are going through the part of the recovery that the doctors don't mention when they say surgery is the answer. I promise you, your hand and arm will get better. I think some of the pain is the nerves healing.

I don't think I have ever seen that many color pencils. Wow!!! Talk about a rainbow of color; you hit the "mother lode". I keep praying for you arm/hand to heal. Hoping it gets better very soon.

You could become a color pencil artist with all those colors. My wife had to take a look at the photo as she walked by as she loves art supplies. Good job Far Guy on the birthday gift choice. I bet you bought them on the internet.

What a great gift! I'm gonna start calling him Nice Guy. Are you at about three weeks post-op? Just curious. I know someone who needed to withdram from school for this term because she needs CT surgery in both wrists. I think if she gets going, she can recover in time to come back for the spring term. It depends on the surgery timing. Mine were too long ago to remember how long it took to get the mobility. I do hope you get to enjoy a pain-free craft retreat.

Yes three weeks tomorrow. Both...oh my I would never do both unless you have a great caregiver. I have good mobility now, just the burning pain which is most likely nerve damage from the tumor. One more week until retreat, I am going even if I cannot do much :)

An awesome array of colours!! A perfect birthday gift!

Most likely your pain is an irritated nerve. That's what happened to me.
That's a whole lot of colored pencils! How to decide which to use!

Happy Belated Birthday, dear... and love your new Prismacolor pencils!! One of life's greater joys... especially when a husband knows to buy them. :) Happy to hear your hand/arm is progressing. Baby steps! xxx

I think Pauline is right . The docs don't tell you about all this pain because in the end ,after it all heals completely you will have a lot less pain if any.
If you want it to hurt less ...do less. The more you do the longer it takes to heal.
Will you be going to physical therapy or have they given you PT to do on your own? If not you can call the doc's office or check their web site and find out what you should be doing. They probably gave you a number to call in all your discharge paperwork. You could always look online to see what to do or not do.
I wouldn't have expected to be perfect so soon after surgery.
Think how bad a paper cut hurts or a hangnail and that is nothing compared to what you had done internally, plus the outside has to heal.
I can tell you are itching to get back to normal, but one day you will. The older we are the slower we heal , anything, muscle pull or stubbed toe .
I am looking forward to all your new adventures. One day this will all be a memory. Also, I don't think you are supposed to take aleve and ibuprofen together , they work against each other. One or the other, see which one helps most and use that. Ibuprofen is for swelling and pain so that might be best. Check the labels or look it up online.

I hope your birthday was great. My sister and her granddaughter love to color and use the pretty pencils, too. So many great things to color these days!
