Wild Rose

We had some lovely Wild Rose blooms last summer.

Wild rose

The flowers served as wood carving inspiration for Far Guy.

wild rose

He will mount the flower and leaves on a piece of wood but for now they are sitting on the dining room table.

I told him I thought he could do a few more blooms…but he said one was enough…I think several attempts became firewood.

I might try a bloom later in the winter…when you are a woodcarver you find your stride and what you like to carve.  I can carve flowers but I don’t enjoy it as much as I enjoy the little bark houses.

Good Morning, I love the wild rose carving. The bloom is similar to Georgia's Cherokee Rose. You both certainly are talented. Hope you guys enjoy the day...hi ya to Chance!

The carving is beautiful. Such a gift you two have! Wild rose grows here along our driveway, but I haven't seen it in a while because I am no longer allowed to walk down the driveway (too easy to fall in the uneven ground and break something else) and the car speeds by too fast. It is always good to stretch ones wings just to see what happens but if you like the houses -- stick them

It is beautiful and definitely looks like a difficult carving.

How pretty- that looks like it would be hard to do. I love your wood house carvings- the one I won here is in my pie safe- I will treasure it always. :)

Nice work, but perhaps not a lot of fun to do.

The carving is wonderful. I just saw in a Christmas magazine where a guy carved only Christmas themed items. He had a lot of sad Santas and trees. Most of them were a solid form with parts of faces revealing just subtly.

Very beautiful! I was born in a province of Canada (Alberta), with the wild rose as it's emblem. It's a gorgeous plant, fragrant and hardy, and a by-product of it is it's fruit, rose-hips, which can be made into rose-hip jelly, which is chock full of vitamin C!

Tell Far Guy he outdid himself....it is absolutely beautiful! (I bet it's for you for Christmas). I love my little houses that I won from you in your drawing. My daughter asked to see them in person when she came down this summer as she knew how much I loved them!
