Wistful Wednesday:Aunt Skinnie and Jimmie

This is an old photo from the photo album of Great Aunt Frances or Aunt Skinnie as she was affectionately known.  The photo was taken in 1922 when she was 19 years old and Jimmie (Uncle Jim to us) was just a babe in arms.

This old photo album is a real treasure.

  1. :-)I sure wish I was known as Aunt Skinnie, but it's not likely or even appropriate. Love the old picture.

  2. How cute. And only 19 with a child. Some families are really big on nicknames.

  3. Look at that baby smiling, and those baby booties! I used to love those gift sets of a little sweater and booties.

  7. They really used to bundle up the kids and spend a lot of time knitting and crocheting outfits, didn't they? :)

  8. Do you know why she was called Aunt Skinnie? It's an intriguing name and doesn't seem like short for Frances!

    1. Really? Not in my family. Mind you, I did have an Uncle Evelyn. And an Aunt Evelyn, and a Great Granny Evelyn. So each family makes its own rules I guess.

  13. You managed to answer my questions already ( through your answers to previous commenters) Aunt Skinnie doesn't look very skinny but maybe she was as a child? Also wondered if Jimmie was her child and you answered that one too. I love old photos.
