I am busy scanning all of the newspaper clippings that Far Guy’s Grandma Tracie tucked and glued into a 1915 Agricultural Yearbook. In essence she made her own scrapbook.
I call it Grandmas Purple book. It has weddings, engagements and obituary newspaper clippings and other “stuff” important to Grandma.
I have scanned the entire book ..now I am dating all the clippings..if possible. Sometimes it takes a bit of research to come up with a date..and sometimes it is just impossible. I will present them in a timeline on the private family blog when I get them all dated.
I crop the articles..Far Guy sits next to me and often looks over at my monitor. I got his attention with this clipping.
Far Guy said “I remember that! Grandma showed me that years and years ago! I couldn’t ever see anything.” He still cannot. I tried and tried to point it out..nothing..he said “I guess I am never meant to see it.” He remembers his Grandmother pointing it out to him many times..to no avail.
I can see it just fine..how about you? :)
This clipping certainly is an interesting bit of ephemera. I, too, see the image of Jesus Christ and understand why this item was saved.
ReplyDeleteThe “Melting Snow” image of our Lord, Jesus Christ, is wonderful! It is sad to realize how greatly our country has since degenerated morally and how in many public school systems a student found with that image in his possession would now face disciplinary action, including probable suspension.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing that picture when I was a child, but I never knew it was melting snow. I always thought it was an optical illusion to find the face of Christ.
ReplyDeleteMy grandma would've saved that as well!
ReplyDeletePearl
I saw it right away. I also wouldn't have known it was melting snow, but it's perfectly clear to me. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow!!!!! Love it......how neat, saw a little heart on his cheek to........Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteI don't see it yet.... I will be back later today to study it (I see an image in the upper left) but that isn't correct... (I am with you Far Guy!)...
ReplyDeleteNo, I can't see it!! To me it looks like an ink blot a therapist uses!!! Maybe I've seen too many therapists!!
ReplyDeleteI can't see it yet but I will check again later.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it until I let my eyes go unfocused - then it popped out at me.
ReplyDeleteI can't see it either. I can see a bear's head, the face - or, at least, the mouth from 'The Scream) and part of another face but Christ's? I'm with Far Guy. Won't stop trying for a while though :)
ReplyDeleteHELPFUL HINT? -- For those who cannot yet see Christ in this image, this might help. Christ's face and his dark hair and beard comprise the middle one-third of the upper half of the image. So you may ignore the other five-sixths of the image. Near the middle of that middle third of the upper half is a vertical element/line [dark on the left side and light on the right side]. That vertical element is the ridge of Christ's nose.
ReplyDeleteYup I can see it ! The man upstairs is everywhere ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteVery creative and I love the thought behind it!
ReplyDeleteYep, saw it in a minute or so. I didn't know what it was at first then it shows up. We have fake marble flooring tiles and there are faces, spooks and animals hiding in the design.
ReplyDeleteNope, no imagination here...does that make me a bad person? Maybe if I stand back.....
ReplyDeleteVery plain to me. Sorry, Far Guy!
ReplyDeleteSure shootin' I can see it! Thanks for the share...I'd keep it too!
ReplyDeleteGod bless and have a marvelous day sweetie! :o)
Yes, I see the image - how interesting.
ReplyDeleteI saw the face of Jesus even before I got done reading the second sentence above in the paragraph...It popped right out! Thanks, stay warm Connie! ld
ReplyDeleteYep, saw it right away. I had a book with these types of photos/drawings, and I used them in my classes.
ReplyDeletePeace,
Muff
I think some of us need an overlay to point it out. I'm usually good at a lot of this kind of thing, but am struggling with this one.
ReplyDeleteI can see it clearly...that is interesting.
ReplyDeleteI bet she has a world of information in that book. Family history and everything else.
Jen
Yeah I found it - read your blog again and the title of the clipping --- whew....
ReplyDeleteI'm a cynical sort, and just wonder why people think that would be a picture of Christ? I was frustrated that I couldn't see it, and did finally find a link to help me out. http://jestkidding.com/kids-corner/jesus-in-the-snow-help/
ReplyDeleteI always thought I had a good imagination, but obviously not good enough:)
YIPPEE! I saw it!!! WHOOHOOO!

ReplyDeleteMy husband saw it quicker than I did, but we both saw His face.
ReplyDeleteI saw it immediately.
