Back to Brown

It was unseasonably warm one day..it was almost 50 degrees .  So all the snow melted.  Let’s all say AWWWW together.

So our second snow has come and gone.  The next snow.. the third will stay.  We are back to brown.

My Dad stopped by one day, I told him that we were going to have a frosty winter without measurable snow until February.  He said “Oh no the muskrat houses never lie and we will have lots of snow.”  I asked him if he wanted to bet 20 dollars…he didn’t.  he said “ If the muskrat house is low..there will be lots of snow.  If they are built high..not so much snow.”  We will just have to wait and see.

We are still working on the carved Christmas ornaments.  In the next day or two or three I will have it all wrapped up!  What a pain in the butt this design has been.  As soon as I have them all packaged up and mailed out I will share all the details.

I passed up shopping Black Friday..and I passed up shopping on Small Business Saturday too..and Cyber Monday passed without me buying a thing.  I never got that shopping gene that women are supposed to have…you know the one where they get all dressed up and shop all day long and smile as they rush from one store to the next picking out the perfect gift for everyone on their list. Was I gypped or just one of the lucky ones?:)

Oh, finally another woman without the shopping gene. (I didn't know until what to call the non-love for shopping)

My DNA seems to be missing that gene also....it's a chore just to hit the food store...thank goodness CityBoy is in the grocery business....i did order one thing on line and when i got the confirmation....my item was B/Oed....!!

Enjoy

I'm another with a missing gene :0) I just don't do shops and detest shopping in any shape or form (unless it's craft related - lol!). I do my food shopping online and clothes .... I'll probably end up going naked at some point as clothes wear out eventually, don't they?

I don't have that kind of shopping gene, either. But I can't pass up an art, craft, book, pet. office supply, stationery, or pen store. There I have all the patience in the world. So maybe my shopping gene was a bit deformed or something--LOL! I consider myself one of the lucky ones, so you know how I vote.

Hummm? Muskrat houses never lie. Well, then maybe your dad is right. Time will tell. Personally I hate a Christmas without snow, so I'm on the muskrat low side. ;)

You are one of the lucky ones. I also do not have the shopping gene. We should start a club for non shoppers.

I'm with you on the shopping thing. It's not something I enjoy. It's more of a chore than anything.
Have to say I agree with your dad. He's a wise man. All the forecasts call for an exceptionally hard winter with lots of snow and bitter temps. Feel like running away with me to Florida for a few months??

I would rather have my toenails pulled out than shop on Black Friday. Well, that might be a bit extreme, but just a bit. I find shopping to be a two edged sword: I like finding just the right thing, but when I don't, it's really annoying.

Oh good to see us non shoppers stick together ! I mean I cant even stand grocery shoping I dont mind the town just not the modern stores .I get what I need and get the heck out of there ! The only places I like to take my time in and brouse are country stores, craft shows and antique shops ! Cant wait to see your carved decorations all done ! Hope none of us get lots of snow ! Have a wonderful day !

I don't know whether you have missed out by not having the shopping gene... but I'm with you on that! Shopping makes me antsy... almost enough to give me hives. If I shop... it is more a 'power shopping' experience; in and out!
After reading the comments of so many who don't like shopping.. maybe it is in the genes... er jeans! Maybe if we did dress up we'd want to shop?! Nawwww.... that wouldn't work for me, either!
The though of snow sticking gives me hives, too! We're expecting snow tomorrow, but it usually melts in a few days.

My brother and his daughter are back from MN. I don't have all the juicy details from the first Thanksgiving with the soon to be married folks!!!
Add me to the list of women who do not like to shop. I pretty much have given up baking and I don't decorate for holidays any longer!

You and me....are the lucky ones:) and with all the responses seems like we could form a club.

Well, I certainly have the shopping gene, but unfortunately, I don't have the bank account to go with it, so I suffer sort of withdrawals on these hectic shopping days. I have always loved the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping. But I'm a lot older now and it's much harder to shop all day long, in fact about two hours is my limit. Regarding Christmas shopping, the spirit is willing, but the body screams NO!

I was one of the lucky ones, too, Far Side. :-)
I did buy something online today for the granddaughter though. ;)
Have a wonderful day!

I hereby join the club of those who don't like to shop!

Add me to the non-shopping club. Well except for a good thrift store, I love to poke around in one of those. It's all about finding those special items at a great price. Oh, and a fabric store when there is a half price or better sale.
But those brand new clothes at the stores in the mall....well I might have to enter those just before Christmas, but not unless I'm really desperate.

I'm not a shopper either. I do as much on line as possible so I don't have to fight the crowds. Some of it is necessary though. Looks like there are a few of us for this club.

Not gypped...like you I don't like to shop at all. I think we are sane and the rest nuts.

Windy and very cold down here. I can't blame it on Canada as the wind is in the east. I have a little yard work left to do with burning but the 30th is the last day I can burn.

Can you believe it - it's still green here? Bet you're glad to see the snow gone.

Count me as one of your hate-to shop readers. Almost any activity is better than shopping.

I need to get my potatoes dug before the snow sticks...got to get busy...

My mom doesn't like to shop either - and I have to be in the mood to shop...and I mean a serious mood that only comes on maybe twice a year. Otherwise, I'd rather do other things then spend money on things I dont need!

I am with you Far Side. Going shopping is the last thing I want to do. The only place I enjoy shopping is at the thrift store... the used-book store...the craftsman gallery at the traffic circle...

I'm with your Dad . I believe in the muskrat house forecast.
I also trapped muskrats so I have seen the inside of a muskrat house or two.

Murr Brewster said...

I hate shopping, but the muskrats are working on the house and need someone with an opposable thumb to work the credit card.

You are one of the lucky ones!!! And me too...I hate to shop. Even for groceries and even at Wally World.

Oh Connie... me either. No shopping gene. I detest shopping. Hubbys mother was a prima shopper. She had to get rid of her furniture every couple of years and redecorate. Always looked like she stepped out of a cataloge.
His grandmother and her 4 sisters had a tradition where they all went annually on a big shopping trip. They would go to Seattle, Spokane, Portland or San Francisco... etc and dress up to the gills, and have so much fun.
