Trail Cams and a baby

We unloaded photos from the two trail cams we have set up in the yard.

We have night visitors during the month of May... also many Crows and Squirrels.

No wonder the bird bath is continually turned over or empty.  Far Guy put some tent stakes in the ground to anchor the bird bath.  One day the solar fountain was on the ground.

Yesterday I mowed the front yard and did some trimming.  Far Guy worked on his new old car, he lost a small spring the other day from the carburetor...so he has spent days looking for it.

My baby brother and his bride welcomed a new Grand Baby yesterday...a handsome baby boy born in Seattle....we got to see photos!  It is Grand #10 for them!  He maybe visiting Minnesota in August!

Deer

The water disappears out of the bird baths every night.

We looked at the trail cam and discovered that the new old car did not discourage them from heading to the bird bath.

Caught red handed

One is at the bird bath on the left and the other is headed to the other bird bath.

We had a quiet Sunday at home.  Far Guy worked on his new old car.  I caught up with laundry and cleaned the bathroom.  Then I spent the whole afternoon on the lawn mower mulching leaves....the third mulch is done.  The leaves are about half down.  My other baby brother stopped by to visit.

I made the crisp bacon, roasted sweet potato, rigatoni and cheese hotdish for supper...it makes six servings and freezes well.  Fry the bacon then chop it up into small pieces, cut three sweet potatoes into chunks and roast them in the oven, cook up a half of a box of the rigatoni, use whatever cheese you like ...I used a bit of Velveeta and some Cojack cheese...add some water from boiling the noodles to make the cheese sauce creamy...toss in the bacon, sweet potatoes and drained rigatoni.  Yum!  It is a meal we never make in the summer. Fall food at it's finest!

Trail Cam : Mid July

Our yard is a pretty busy place.

The last time the trail cam caught the bear was July 15...that was seven days ago...so maybe he has moved on.  We are still bringing all the bird feeders in at night.

The deer come and go.
My baby brothers dog...Einstein..Stiney for short...he is deaf and doesn't see very much...but his nose keeps him busy.

One of our rabbits.

We got 3 inches of rain on Tuesday early morning.  I mowed down a bunch of weeds in the old parking lot and around the raspberry patch.   Far Guy serviced my lawn mower a blade was loose and it needed oil and the air cleaner needed cleaning...I am good to go for a little while.

We finished some more Christmas Ornaments 74 are done and ready to package up.   The carving is all completed...just painting and sealing left to do.  My carving tools are put away...not sure what I will carve next...maybe nothing for awhile!  Far Guy is working on some more flowers...his favorite thing to carve.

I made some of the Poison Ivy rounds yesterday afternoon...still have some more to do.

Night Visitors

Want a peek at what goes through our yard at night?

The white and black kitty cat.  It must be feral...Far Guy has seen it and tried to call to it...no dice...it probably eats mice and chippys!!

The Raccoons...double trouble...they drink all the water out of the bird baths and they like the seed that was dropped on the ground by the bear

BEAR!

We may have two bears...they frequent the yard between three and four in the morning and at ten o'clock at night.  They were caught on the game cam two days in a row at those times.

This is no teeny tiny cuddly bear.

It is however a bear that appreciates my flowers and didn't mess them up.
We figured we were pretty safe leaving the feeders out...it had been 16 days since their last visit.
All the feeders are safely tucked away at night now.

My lawn mower needs some kind of holder for a very sharp stick or a rifle....or I need a super charged lawn mower instead of one that putts along...bears can run faster than my lawn mower.

Trail cam

Finally the Trail Cam became visible again...we didn't know for sure what tree we put it on and then it snowed and snowed.  Well let me tell you reaching it was no small feat.  Like an Olympic Swimmer I floundered on top of the snow...finally reaching my destination whilst snow was invading my boots and all my wondrous movements shoved snow up my coat AND shirt.  Far Guy was watching from the kitchen window and said he didn't know what he was going to do if I got stuck in the snowbank.

So as long as I got the trail cam out of a five foot snow drift I will show you some pictures.

My brother or my nephew removing snow with one machine.

Then they come along with another machine and blow all the snow further away!

The Trail Cam takes some  decent photos!

There were a few photos that made us smile.

One of our tree rats

Other than the snow adventure we had a quiet day yesterday.  Far Guy talked to many people on the phone.  I tried a new to me crochet project...it was a struggle.  I was ready to give up...at one point I thought I could just keep going but no my OCD  CDO wouldn't let me...I frogged and crocheted and frogged and crocheted...finally after supper I got the stitches correct...or real close to correct!  At least now it is just a four row repeat so I can watch TV and crochet.

Trail Cam: Birds

We unloaded the trail cam again, it is fun to see what visits our yard.

We have been seeing flashes of blue and thought we might have a pair of Bluebirds and now we have proof.

From the camera the Coon visits nightly after 11:30 PM. The Fox was an early morning just before daylight visitor and the Deer are early mornings. The Deer didn’t eat my flowers…yet.  We think they drank the water in the bird bath.

This is only one area of our yard I wonder what is happening in the rest of the yard?

Trail Cam

This weeks trail cam showed lots of Chance coming and going, Odda coming for a visit but no bear!

Deer in the yard

This deer visited during the day and at night.  They think that the wildflower garden is pretty tasty.  When I sprayed for poison ivy I noticed a few things had been trimmed.

I missed the Stanley Cup Play Offs but Far Guy gave me a recap of the game…so glad The Capitals won!  Warroad Minnesota should be very proud of their home town player!   I went to Bingo with my Dad, we were both lucky and each shouted Bingo once!

Trail Cam : Visitors

We finally had the chance to get in the trail cam and download the photos.

We had some weird tracks in the yard one day…never found out what it was.

I did notice some larger than Chance tracks and some turkey tracks.

Odda Trail cam

Odda came to visit one day while Far Guy was in the hospital.

Trail cam turkeys

The turkeys must have thought it was easy pickins when Chance was away.

We had a busy week.  Three health care appointments, some house cleaning and shopping for groceries was accomplished.  We are staying to ourselves for a few more weeks.  Far Guy walked outside yesterday for the first time in almost a month.

I am feeling much better, I am still a little tired but my cough is completely gone…knock on wood.  It took just about a month to get rid of it…I first got sick January 18…so figure a month. That was one long lasting siege.  Far Guy still has nine days to go before his month is up.  I hope his cough is completely gone by then.

Chance : All about me

We got a Trail Cam just before Christmas, we can tell who comes and goes and how long they stay.  It has been pointed many different directions.

Mostly it catches me coming and going.  Helping to get the mail or feeding the birds or leading Far Guy around in the yard.

Gene and Chance

It also captures birds flying by, snow falling out of the trees and some weird glowing eyes at night and the Bunnies which I am not supposed to chase.

Far Side said she is amazed at the quality of the photos.

Yesterday was a get up at o dark thirty day, the old folks had to attend a class on Defensive Driving to save some $ on their automobile insurance.  They are pretty sneaky.  I got to go along but only as far as the groomers.  I got groomed and expressed and all those things that go along with a morning at the groomers.  I was very handsome but exhausted.   Everyone had a long afternoon nap after we got back home.

I still have some patchy dry skin problems.  I still have that nasty hemorrhoid/fistula/tumor too…Far Side likes the days that it totally disappears…but then it comes back again.  Now that I have been to the groomers my butt hair is much shorter, it will be easier to keep clean…or so someone says.  Far Side is real particular about my butt.  She says caring for an older dog is challenging and sometimes a crappy job.

I can go up the steps most days by myself, sometimes I need help and they put the harness with the handle on me.  I never come down the stairs by myself anymore.  I lay on the landing and when I want to come down I whine or bark…yes barking gets their attention, they bring up the harness and guide me down the stairs safely.  I play ball but not for very long.  I need help getting in and out of the car but I still like to go for a ride EVERY day!
