Of deer! A doe and two fawns who have not lost their spots yet. The doe is turning darker brown.
Not the greatest photo but you can see the doe and the two spotted fawns just behind her. They were having an acorn snack.
Minnesota weather: High 54F or 13C Low was 38F or 4C It rained on Thursday night.
Supper last night was smoked pork chops, fried potatoes and green beans. Far Guy said the potatoes were the best thing ever...must have been the bacon grease I fried them in. A few nights ago we had chicken enchilada hotdish and then one night sandwiches with ham, roast beef, turkey and cheese. I am getting stronger I can cook an entire meal but then have to rest part way into the clean up. Some people leave their dishes for the next day...we like to clean the kitchen and all the dishes after a meal.
Our days are quiet, doing what we can do and having rests/naps when we feel like it.
Far Side
Those fawns must have been such a sweet sight! 🦌 Glad to hear you’re feeling stronger and able to cook full meals again. The smoked pork chops and bacon-fried potatoes sound absolutely "lekker".
ReplyDeleteI actually think your photo is fantastic — I can see my favorite color blue in it, that deep lapis lazuli shade. 💙
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are getting stronger. I can't get through making a meal without taking breaks. It took 3 breaks to make a tuna noodle casserole/hot dish. LOL! I make simpler meals now. I haven't made fried potatoes in a long time and I love them. Have a nice weekend.
Cute! Our deer are becoming more active with this cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear FG is having a bit of an appetite these days!
ReplyDeleteI hate leaving a mess. Even when cooking, I like to clean up as I go. FG gave a great compliment coming from a person that has lost his taste for food. The deer are brave but beautiful array on your kitchen window sill is more outstanding 💙
ReplyDeleteIt always feels good to me when days are quiet. I am surprised at how many days are full of things that must be done.
ReplyDeleteI love the little spots on the baby deer.. They are so cute!! I'm with you...I like for the dishes to be done after a meal. My mom instilled this in me and I'm so glad she did. keep on with the strength building...
ReplyDeleteYou have deer. I have turkeys. Dinner sound really good. I will confess to being a messy cook.
ReplyDeleteOur heat actually kicked on this morning, which is probably good as it was really cold in the house. 41 degrees outside. Brrrr! Potatoes fried in bacon grease - Yum!!!
ReplyDeleteNice to see the deer, as long as they aren't eating the garden!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely been cool here too. The weatherman says a warm-up is coming on Sunday or Monday, we'll see.
So glad FarGuy's appetite is coming back!
ReplyDeleteI like to have the kitchen cleaned up, too.
Have a great weekend. :)
I'm like you I have to clean up after I cook. I can't stand it otherwise
ReplyDeleteThe fawns are still very small. The darker coat is the winter coming on.
ReplyDeleteBacon helps many dishes so it should be no surprise that the grease does too.
ReplyDeleteLD....I see National Geographic use pictures like that all of the time. It adds to the flavor of their stealing your acorns and your aren't suppose to see them.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing GREAT in recovery! Slow and steady wins the race. I may have mentioned that two of our neighbors own 10 acres that are wooden areas on one side and back of our house. We see deer feeding if we catch them at the right time. We have a teenage boy as part of the group with his beautiful emerging velvet antlers.
ReplyDeleteI like waking up to a clean kitchen. Since there aren't any volunteers, it is my job. Sometimes it might be right before bedtime.
ReplyDeleteYour dinner and potatoes sound fabulous and I am so glad Far Guy can enjoy a meal!
Your meals sound good.
ReplyDeleteWe always clean up everything after our meals too. Tom is my dishwasher.
You make good meals. I like baking but not cooking. I hate getting up in the morning to dirty dishes so the kitchen is left tidy the night before.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the doe and her fawns.
What a fun photo!
ReplyDeleteHappily, I cook and Dave cleans the kitchen after dinner. I do clean as I go so he doesn't have a mountain though!
ReplyDeleteOh what a precious picture! Your meals sound delicious too. Yes, bacon grease makes everything taste better. Well, almost everything! *haha* Most of the time I do my supper dishes after we eat but I must admit that sometimes my ole body just can't....so I leave them until the next day. I always wake up in the morning with regret though, that I did that! Love, Andrea xoxo
