May Stuff

We had Virtual Book Club yesterday.  I gave the book a SAD 6.  One of the other gals rated it the same and others rated it higher.   I thought it was a very sad book and if you are into sad then read it.

A woman is no man by Etaf Rum

I have been working on a crochet project in the evenings and early mornings.  If I get up early I watch a movie.  This week I watched Whitney Houston: I wanna dance with somebody (Who knew drugs could be hidden in pens?) I give it a 5, A Cowgirls Song (Cheryl Ladd can sing) I give it a 7, Father Stu (Inspiring) I give it an 8 it is a true story, Pitch Perfect (some girls are so mean...I loved Fat Amy) I give it a 8,The Mustang (Wild Horses can be tamed but some should just go free) I give it a 8.  As you can tell I have weird taste in movies.

So I completed seven bags to add to my stash and I am preparing another six or so to finish off that project and then put the yarn away!

Yesterday Far Guy had his infusion and I ran a whole bunch of errands and worked in the yard in the late afternoon.

A Beautiful Day

Yesterday we had lunch at Jen's favorite place...my second Margarita this year!  The food was awesome as usual...we sat out on the patio...where we could see Baxter in the car.

It was a beautiful Minnesota day...a bit breezy but we spent most of the day outside.  Jen said she was having a good birthday!

I worked on quality control of the Christmas Ornaments...I have 50 ready to paint.

Baxter was good company for me after Jen and Andy left and Far Guy went in for a nap.   Baxter went home in the late afternoon...I think he was sad to leave as he flushed out a rabbit in the wildgardens.

I am working on getting my craft projects all set to go for a craft retreat soon.  Far Guy encouraged me to go....so I am!

I probably won't take this project...I put it out of reach...as Baxter thinks balls of yarn are lots of fun! This has been my in the car project and my late night TV watching project.

Rainbow of colors

One more project completed!

I finished up the baby blanket I was working on.  It was a fun project.   It was Mosaic Crochet a pattern called Apache Tears.   Each row is a different color.   I have enough yarn left over to make a couple more baby blankets!  When I order yarn I do it up good!

Can you tell the baby is a boy ...hence the blue border!

I found a book to send along and a thermal sleeper....the package is on the way to Seattle where my Nephew and his wife live...the virtual baby shower is this weekend.  I have never attended a virtual baby shower before...it should be interesting.  We may get to see the baby in August when his parents visit Minnesota!

We had a busy day yesterday...I had some eye tests...and after that I had a Dental Appointment because I cracked a tooth and couldn't chew anything...it is all fixed now.   Two more appointments for us this week, Far Guy's usual and another eye test for me.

Two projects finished

Remember all those ends from the Mosaic Crochet I was working on.  They have all been encased in the border stitch.  It was a little putzy but worth the effort!

This is an Apache Tears stitch worked one row at a time.  As you can see the reverse side is almost as pretty as the front.

The scarf will be put away until a special little girl grows up and needs a scarf.

All the grey yarn has been used up...many wasp nests were made.

They are all shapes and sizes.  I will mod podge them in the Spring when I can let them drip outside for an entire day.  I have a number of them that are complete and will be stored flat until a need arises.

I started Spring cleaning the Living Room...one corner is now done.  Spring cleaning will be a work in progress for some time.

Goodbye February Hello March!

Mosaic Crochet

This year I said I was going to either finish up old projects or learn new things!  Mosaic Crochet is beautiful.

First I made a small swatch...then I graduated to a scarf using small odds and ends of pastel yarns. I am working on it inbetween wasp nests.

Each row is worked one at a time leaving the ends.  This is the front.

The back...

It stripes wonderfully.

The ends are tied and then cut shorter and you begin to encase the ends.

Here is the beginning of the envelope.

I have a ways to go.  I learned about mosaic crochet on You Tube.  There are many different designs.  I would like to make an afghan...maybe...I joined a facebook group and get lots of ideas and oh my the color combinations!

Grocery Pickup was uneventful.  It was way warmer than last week.  I went by the Post Office drop box and then waited in the Clinic Parking lot for Far Guy to call me.  We came home, disinfected groceries and put them away...had lunch and a nap.

Shot report:  Far Guy is feeling much better.   I still have a red swollen arm...they say it is normal. I am still tired.

Luckily I can take a nap when ever I want!  Suppers were planned way ahead of the shots...using a number of freezer meals.

Third or fourth time a charm

I finally got it!  A new pattern learned...Mosaic stitch called Apache Tears.  It is worked row by row and you have ends on each side...lots of ends...reminder do not cut them too short.

After some discouraging moments I finally figured it all out.

The finished border from the front.

And from the back.

Yeah me...not perfect but I learned so much!  The swatch has an envelope type border it encloses all the ends...much better than a fringe and way better than sewing all those ends in.

I have a project in mind for this pattern. BUT I had to see if I could do the stitch and do the border.  So it is a go.

However I have two shawls in the works and this old project that I had tucked away upstairs.

This was a join as you go Granny Square project.  It is almost large enough to be a lapghan...one more row and then some kind of border.

We had a quiet Sunday...listened to church...made yeast rolls, potato salad and meatloaf for supper it seemed I was in the kitchen most of the day.

Enjoying Public TV...All Creatures Great and Small.
