Update

Far Guy is having surgery next week. He will have a mastectomy and a sentinel node biopsy.  The surgeon seems like a confidant young fellow, who had a decent bedside manner.   The oncologist had Far Guy stop the horrid Verzenio because the side effects were so bad.  He feels like surgery is a good option at this time and put in the referral immediately.  Luckily the surgeon saw us right away for the consult.

Far Guy is very anxious and scared.  I keep telling him that this battle is almost over and the war with cancer will be won!  Moving forward is a good thing and moving forward faster than we thought is great! A month ago the Oncologist mentioned surgery this winter...so there ya go...things are moving along!

I had a great mammogram report....nothing suspicious however the biopsy of a spot on my forehead came back with atypical cells ...so I will have a punch biopsy in a couple of weeks.

Physical Therapy is going well and the sessions have been put on hold...I have all kind of exercises to do and walk walk walk.  I still have considerable pain especially after riding in the car.

Minnesota weather has turned cooler and rainy.   High 67F or 20C Low was 58F or 15C.

Last night we did not cook supper, we ordered pizza when we were in town for Far Guy's infusion.

  4. It sounds like good news but I can't blame Far Guy for being scared. It takes a real man to admit that. Let's face it....we would all be scared. I'm glad you have faith in your doctor...that's half the battle!

  10. Stopping the medication that is making him so miserable has to be a relief. Having the surgery soon should be a good move I think. Keep up that PT and moving. Hopefully you'll be stronger and more pain free.

  11. I know the prospect of the surgery and healing process is overwhelming. I am glad you have a good doctor with a positive attitude. And I will pray for no complications and an easy journey. Far Guy has done an excellent job of cornering that cancer into a manageable level so that he can have the surgery and have it quicker! I wish him all the best. And you, too.
Skin. Bah humbug. I'm glad you get checked regularly.

  16. I know of a gentleman that had breast cancer and had surgery - this was maybe ten years ago. He had a good outcome. I hope this will take care of things for Far Guy. You two have a lot on your plate health-wise. I hope both of you are on the way to a nice recovery and a return to all your favorite activities.

  17. Any surgery brings some risk, but let Far Guy know that my Dad had a similar surgery many years ago (at least 35 years ago), with no complications at all. I do recall Dad was quite upset that they made him remove his false teeth and underwear. The latter he refused to remove, so just before they entered the operating room one of the nurses reached up under his gown and pulled them off.
Glad to hear he's off that awful medication - I do hope his symptoms are relieved quickly.
I hope you find some relief through the PT. It's your turn for better news.

  20. So glad they were able to get this scheduled quickly. Getting it out of the way and moving on will be good. Having to wait until winter would be awful. Hopefully dropping that one awful med will help everything too. Prayers always headed your way.

Huge believer in PT. It works, as long as recommendations are actually done. Enjoy walking!!
