Far Guy is having surgery next week. He will have a mastectomy and a sentinel node biopsy. The surgeon seems like a confidant young fellow, who had a decent bedside manner. The oncologist had Far Guy stop the horrid Verzenio because the side effects were so bad. He feels like surgery is a good option at this time and put in the referral immediately. Luckily the surgeon saw us right away for the consult.
Far Guy is very anxious and scared. I keep telling him that this battle is almost over and the war with cancer will be won! Moving forward is a good thing and moving forward faster than we thought is great! A month ago the Oncologist mentioned surgery this winter...so there ya go...things are moving along!
I had a great mammogram report....nothing suspicious however the biopsy of a spot on my forehead came back with atypical cells ...so I will have a punch biopsy in a couple of weeks.
Physical Therapy is going well and the sessions have been put on hold...I have all kind of exercises to do and walk walk walk. I still have considerable pain especially after riding in the car.
Minnesota weather has turned cooler and rainy. High 67F or 20C Low was 58F or 15C.
Last night we did not cook supper, we ordered pizza when we were in town for Far Guy's infusion.
Far Side
Very best wishes to Far Guy ahead of his surgery. I hope it all goes as well as possible.

So glad the drug was stopped. Hopefully he’ll get some relief from side effects as he gears up for surgery. Love and prayers for you both as you prepare for that!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like good news but I can't blame Far Guy for being scared. It takes a real man to admit that. Let's face it....we would all be scared. I'm glad you have faith in your doctor...that's half the battle!
ReplyDeleteprayers continue for quick complete recovery...
ReplyDeleteI will keep Far Guy in my prayers during his upcoming surgery and recovery.
ReplyDeleteI would be anxious and scared, too, if I were in FG's shoes. I am praying very hard for both of you. Please keep your posts up, they mean a lot to me to know how things are going.
ReplyDeleteThankful Gene’s surgery is scheduled next week and he can get on the road to complete recovery. I will continue praying for you both and the doctors as well. RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are beautiful, such an array of colors. Surgery vs those horrid side effects sound a bit better to me.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed.
Stopping the medication that is making him so miserable has to be a relief. Having the surgery soon should be a good move I think. Keep up that PT and moving. Hopefully you'll be stronger and more pain free.
ReplyDeleteI know the prospect of the surgery and healing process is overwhelming. I am glad you have a good doctor with a positive attitude. And I will pray for no complications and an easy journey. Far Guy has done an excellent job of cornering that cancer into a manageable level so that he can have the surgery and have it quicker! I wish him all the best. And you, too.
ReplyDeleteSkin. Bah humbug. I'm glad you get checked regularly.
Good to hear that some promising solutions are going to be applied sooner than later.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Far Guy was able to see the surgeon so quickly, and get the positive news. I'll be thinking good thoughts for him.
ReplyDeletePrayers for a successful surgery. He has had so much suffering!
ReplyDeleteKeeping you and Far Guy and your family in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI know of a gentleman that had breast cancer and had surgery - this was maybe ten years ago. He had a good outcome. I hope this will take care of things for Far Guy. You two have a lot on your plate health-wise. I hope both of you are on the way to a nice recovery and a return to all your favorite activities.
ReplyDeleteAny surgery brings some risk, but let Far Guy know that my Dad had a similar surgery many years ago (at least 35 years ago), with no complications at all. I do recall Dad was quite upset that they made him remove his false teeth and underwear. The latter he refused to remove, so just before they entered the operating room one of the nurses reached up under his gown and pulled them off.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear he's off that awful medication - I do hope his symptoms are relieved quickly.
I hope you find some relief through the PT. It's your turn for better news.
All I can at is I will remember him in prayer!
ReplyDeleteSending up prayers for Far Guy's surgery, and for both of you. I hope this surgery will be a conclusion to the cancer, and he will feel lots better soonest.
ReplyDeleteSo glad they were able to get this scheduled quickly. Getting it out of the way and moving on will be good. Having to wait until winter would be awful. Hopefully dropping that one awful med will help everything too. Prayers always headed your way.
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers 🙏 for both of you. Pizza is good and beautiful flowers 💐
ReplyDeleteso thankful that there is a plan in place and thankful that he no longer will have to take the medication that has such hard side effects. my prayer list has grown but you and far guy are right there on the top. hugs
ReplyDeleteSo glad he quit that medication with such bad side effects! Glad that you don't have to wait until winter for Surgery and lots of anxiety too. We will continue to pray for you both!
ReplyDeletePraying for the upcoming surgery and for your biopsy as well. Keep up the walking...after fracturing my hip and having a replacement 6 months ago walking seems to be the best medicine! Hang in there you two.
ReplyDeletePretty fall flowers.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad PT is working for you and that FG is getting fast medical attention.
What good news! At least I am thinking it is. Far Guy will start to heal fast now!!! Walking is always a good way to find Hearts!!!
ReplyDeleteAny surgery makes me nervous too. May it all go smooth for your Far Guy, including recovery.
ReplyDeleteHuge believer in PT. It works, as long as recommendations are actually done. Enjoy walking!!
Any surgery is scary and so is battling the big sea. I am wishing you both the best. The flower picture was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAny surgery is an anxious event for anybody. At least he isn't waiting long.
ReplyDeleteI pray all goes well with his surgery and he be cancer free!!
