A Nap

We will need a nap today.  We won’t know when to eat or sleep with the time change.

Afternoon nap DL Ant Number1273

I will skip the hair net today.  This is an old photo from my vast collection of Forgotten Old Photos…an unknown couple taking an afternoon nap on what we used to call an Indian Blanket. ( A colorful blanket with designs on it.)  Not sure what other people would call it.

Today Far Guy will change all the batteries in the smoke alarms.  He stocked up on batteries last week…because he knows me well.  I insist that the batteries be changed with the time change spring and fall.  What if they don’t beep when the battery is low…what if we are gone when it beeps…that would be a false sense of security.  So he changes them so I don’t have to worry.  Like he says he can use the batteries elsewhere where it is not as important as saving our lives.

Far Guy is still struggling… now with a cough AND a sore throat to accompany his shortness of breath…he is on a different antibiotic after a trip to Urgent Care.

I made soup…homemade vegetable beef…with beef of course …rutabega, cabbage, carrots and potatoes….and fresh flat bread…boy was that yummy.

I dislike the time change…it makes me crankier than normal….I hate that it gets dark before supper.

Our clocks changed last weekend. The time changes make keeping to a routine even harder for me than normal.

Sorry Far Guy is still so sick. Hope these new antibiotics do the trick.

I am so sorry to hear that Far Guy is still not feeling well. This is hanging on a long time isn’t it? I don’t like the time change either. I was up an hour earlier than usual and now I feel like my head is running behind my body trying to catch up! Take care.
Blessings, Betsy

I hate the time change and definitely hear a nap calling me. Sorry that Far Guy is still unwell, hope he's better soon.

I'm not fond of the time change and see very little reason most states still adhere it to policy. I made a pot of white chili yesterday - yummy on a cold, dreary day.

There must be something wrong with me. I don't notice any difference in the time changes. It may be the way we live - no schedule, no definite bedtime or getting up time; meals when we feel like it and just a hobo kind of life at home!

I bet your soup makes Far Guy feel better! Just what you need when you aren't feeling well. My great aunt Ruth had an Indian blanket on the back of her couch. It was nice and heavy and warm. I hadn't thought about it in years until your post... thanks for the memory!

Yummy homemade vegetable soup.... but you can omit my moms favorite addition rutabagas. I always believed as a child the Russian would immediately give up if we drop them on those cummanists..:)

I like Day Light savings time the best...but more than anything I wish they would just leave it alone...like when we were kids. I hope FG can shake this stuff and get well fast!!!

Bummer that FarGuy had to go to urgent care. :( I hope this antibiotic will do the trick.

The soup and flat bread sounds soooo good! I just made a big pot of soup, too. Tis the season.

The time change throws me off for a week or two now in my old-er age. I never liked it but I don't remember it being quite as terribly annoying as it has been the last decade or so. I am off to change the clocks.

Awwww.... Far Guy is still on my prayer list but I will surely "step up" my prayers for him after reading this, Connie. Pooey!! Your beef soup sounds like just what the doctor ordered though. Have you tried a humidifier in the bedroom? That always seems to work for us. Yes, it does make the air "wet" but it stops those coughs in their tracks. I hate the time change too. I don't like people messing with the time. Just doesn't seem right. Love, Andrea xoxo

I am not excited about time changes either. They could just leave it alone and I'd be fine. But no naps for us today, we're headed to the Detroit Symphony this afternoon. Nap sounds good though. The soup sounds good. I made soup this week too. Yummy.

Didn't you sleep in this morning? I stayed in bed but didn't sleep.

I went to bed last night a little later than usual and was able to sleep half the hour away this morning. Somehow or other I am in a good mood anyway, so I'll take it! Sorry to hear FG needed another trip to Urgent Care, but hoping this new antibiotic will do the trick. Fingers crossed in any event. :-)

I stayed up late and slept in today but I would much rather see us keep the same time year round. It doesn't seem to matter which direction the time goes it still takes time to adjust to the change. Your soup sounds perfect for a winter day. I tried a new recipe for lentil soup yesterday but it will probably not be made again. You win some you lose some! Do you make your own flat bread? I love it but I've never made it.
I sure hope Far Guy feels better soon.

The change didn't affect me much at all. Charlie decided that I should still keep to his schedule and let me know about that.
I do hope FG feels much better soon. These coughs and shortness of breath are a major concern .. I know.
The weather here is dull and grey which adds to the overall feeling of glum...ness.

I don't mind the time change back in the fall, but it will be shocking this evening when it is dark earlier.
I just bought all the ingredients for making beef stew later in the week, including a rutabaga. :-)
Gar guys condition is worrisome. I know you are taking good care of him.

Our smoke detectors are connected to the mains so no batteries to change for me, daylight savings doesn't bother me at all

Here in California we are voting on Tuesday and one proposition is to end Daylight Savings Time. I wonder if it will pass. I find it annoying to change all the clocks including the one on my car dashboard.

I'm not a fan of losing daylight, either. It always seems this half of the year goes so much more slowly than the other half...

Your soup sounds so comforting when that cough and sore throat can be so annoying. My daughter went to the butcher and got some bones to make a bone broth...hoping it would help us feel better last week. I don't know if it really does, but the soup was delicious :)

Continued prayers for Far Guy. Hope he kicks that infection real soon!

Is there anyone who in is favour of this stupid time change? I know this one is regarded as easier than the Spring one but why can't we just decide on one or the other and leave it all year round!
I hope Far Guy can shake whatever the bug is that he's caught. I'm sure you're taking good care of him.

I actually look forward to this time change as I hate waking up in the dark... Wish everyone would get healthy up there!

I used to dislike the time change but now that I'm retired I don't notice much difference. I don't like it getting dark so early in the evening. But it won't last long!

I'm like Paula...now that I'm retired I don't mind as I keep my own hours anyway and I don't have many appointments. I remember the Indian blankets...they're probably worth a lot now.
I sure hope Far Guy bets better. Does he get a flu shot? I had the new one for 65 and older. That and the time change don't bother me but yesterday Annie peed twice in the house and pooped too.....and THAT bothered me!

yes we both got the Flu Shot the over 65 one:) Poor Annie:(
