Last evening we took a ride around “the block” to see what was happening in the fields.
We had a late afternoon nap because of the rain…yet another inch plus that will make our grass grow. Soon we should be coming into the dry part of summer.
A bean field…two deer were way way out there feasting.
Irrigators working real hard even though it just rained and low areas of the field are filled with water which become mosquito breeding areas.

Irrigation again on a small grain of some sort field. The grain looks like it is getting close to harvest.
We saw seven deer on our little trip around the block. Chance enjoyed the outing. During the summer he rarely goes with us during the day because it is too warm. Evening rides are his outing.
This sounds like a pleasant and relaxing end to yesterday. Hope today is an equally pleasant day.

We don't have much irrigation locally that is reserved for the areas with sandy soils and more commercial fields. However I was surprised at how much the field corn grew in the past two days! Wow!

ReplyDeleteIt's hard to beat an evening ride on country roads, checking the crops and wildlife.
ReplyDeleteThe crops do look good there. Our corn is so far ahead of the normal year. The beans are slow. The showed that ears of corn were tossed out of the fields by tornadoes so we do have full ears of corn already.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of deer in the area. But the crops seem to be doing well despite them. ;) Glad Chance was a happy passenger. :)

ReplyDeleteYesterday we saw a Mom deer and three little fawns. It was my first to see one deer with three.

ReplyDeleteWe have had no rain here in ages, and every lawn is nicely browned, however in the garden where we keep it really green. I need to spend some time out there but it's too hot except for early in the morning. :-)

ReplyDeleteI love the evening rides through the country. I always check out the crops on our drives to and from the lake. Must be the Iowa girl still in me from childhood!
